"A spokeswoman confirmed that a pedestrian had been killed after being hit by a car, which did not stop at the scene."
Not sure the accompanying picture of smiling policemen at (what looks like) Murrayfield is really the best choice.

99.9% sure that's taken in the Kirkgate in Leith, beside Lidl and the stairs leading up to the offices / community centre.
It's the go-to EEn picture for 'police'.
