SCHOOLS and roads are set for an investment boost of almost £300 million to ensure the Capital can cope with plans for around 14,400 new homes over the next ten years.

As many as nine schools – including a replacement for Castlebrae Community High – could be built across the city, with major sums also set to be ploughed into roundabouts, footpaths and streets.

Can anyone explain to me why I shouldn't be cynical about the chance of the planning system/developers delivering on this?

I'm sure they'll be able to deliver the roundabouts at the very least.

And all of those roundabouts will have excellent sight lines so that they are safe for cyclists.

They might just avoid the transport failures of Hospitals (ERI - inverting % of walking and driving when it relocated, and SGH likewise), plus the new Hillhead Primary which transferred the chaos of delivering kids to a well distributed number of smaller schools located close to where the children lived (many of the older ones being sold for conversion to iconic luxury flats) and for some kids adding in the crossing of the main route between Glasgow and Partick to having the main entrance to the school on Gibson Street - a busy bus route and key route between Charing Cross and the University.

Could Edinburgh perhaps be an exemplar that shows up Glasgow's incompetence?

    Unlikely.
