Join us for the launch of online exhibition Lost+Found in Edinburgh, hosted by The New Metropolitan web magazine and featuring images of the city’s quirky and contested places. Our panel will display and discuss the exhibition—curated from images created and collected by the people of Edinburgh—and debate what it means to inhabit Edinburgh today. We invite you to participate in this lively evening forum with humanities researchers, creative practitioners, urban activists, policy makers and fellow citizens to explore how we can go past the official and touristic images and narratives of Edinburgh, to tell stories and make images of our own.
By grounding our imagination and lived experience in humanities research, the panel will expose often ignored divisions across Edinburgh, responding to the contradictions and inequalities of contemporary urban citizenship.
This event is in partnership with The University of Edinburgh’s Institute for the Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Being Human: the UK festival of the humanities.
