I confidently predict this will get sorted at the eleventh hour same as every other time ASO threaten similar.
Of course, it's possible that we really will see a schism in the sport with Velon on one side and ASO on the other, but I'm not convinced.
Does it matter? Does anyone care?

I'm interested in cycling as sport.
However arcane disputes between race organisers and international regulatory bodies are, well, not much to do with sport per se.
I think it is of interest and I am grateful to SRD for posting it.
UCI needs a kick anyway; they've been stifling road bike development for a long time. Slow signs of change afoot (disc brakes...let me control my excitement)...
I also wondered if this was negotiating tactics. it certainly seems like it would change the dynamics of racing schedules.
