Cyclist sought for kicking toddler on Edinburgh path

    A cyclist who was seen kicking a 19-month-old girl in Edinburgh is being sought by police.
    The incident happened on the cycle path near Leith Links on Saturday at about 16:30 when a passing cyclist deliberately kicked the little girl.
    The toddler was walking with her father and both had moved out of the way to give the cyclist room.

    Officers are now urging witnesses to come forward.

    "Nerk on bike" would be closer to the truth. I think you should lose your cyclist stripes if you behave in this manner.

    Funny that was my first thought when I read it. Ned on a BSO but thought I'd open with an unbiased post.

    Apply the usual test of noun/minority group replacement, and if it still sounds something-ist, it probably was originally.

    Poor show from the Beeb. How is it relevant to the story that the culprit was 'a cyclist'?

    I took it to mean he kicked her whilst still mounted, probably relevant in that context. Whilst Person on Bike would be better, if it the incident happened form a car then the Nerk would likely be identified as the driver.

    story doesn't seem entirely credible

    I'm willing to do it, but it will depend on the time and whether the toddler is on my route home.

    I think toddler kicking is part of the new Bikeability test.

    I suppose the headline "Junky kicks toddler on dog toilet path" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
