I always found the Meridian Bar sort of ok, would not have thought the worst bar in the bottom of the walk never mind edinburgh. Don't know about "crime-blighted boozer" they would not even let you smoke at the bar late at night because its the law or some such tripe, found it a bit formal for bottom end of the walk.

Yes I imagine there's certainly worse boozers if you stray off the fit o' the Walk.
Still, consider it gentrified now, saw a picture tweeted of one of the lunch dishes which was pate served in a jam jar!
