The council has launched a new online facility for reporting faulty street lighting where you can "easily pinpoint the street light using our interactive map"

    http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/20089/roads_and_pavements/1071/report_a_street_light_problem

    ... except you can't.

It seems to work ok for roads, or even the Meadows paths but it doesn't work so well when it comes to foot paths. There are no instructions to guide you on the random way they have set some of it up but if you search for "cycle" you can find SOME of the foot/cycle paths but not all. For example, the Blackhall Path between Craigleith and Silverknowes is not there.

I think I will be sticking to FixMyStreet.

Must admit I tried to report a road sign that was lying on the ground. Again no way of actually doing that.

I gave up after 10 mins and just tweeted it. Picked up and dealt with in a few days
