MMW gritted.
Canal towpath white and crunchy - fine/fun to ride.
Ungritted side roads shiny - seems to be freezing.
Pavements - don't go there...
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

It is getting interesting out there, take care!
And while MMW is clear, the other cycle-able paths around the meadows are more like the tow-path, but at least no danger of falling in.... I wasn't on nursery-run today, but unfortunately have to report a spill on Merchiston Ave...No damage done luckily.
The Water of Leith path between Colinton Village and the canal was crunchy underwheel and a bit rutted, but was fairly easily navigable with offroad tyres. Otherwise I stuck to main roads which, having been salted to death, were pretty clear.
Not as much as skid pan as link from Valleyfield St towards MMW. Was at co-op on tandem today (Sunday) and just tried cut through to lights at Meadows. Lethal.
I just used roads - lot safer.
That earmuffs or headphones?
Earmuffs. I suggested a helmet was good idea to keep head warm but she can't be told.
Cripes. It thawed on Boxing Day and my upstairs neighbour's pipes burst. He was away and I couldn't get hold of him or any of his mates. I was tearing around like The Sorcerer's Apprentice catching water in wheelie bins. The outside plaque thing that you can lift up to turn off the water was hidden under snow. Finally the neighbours to the right broke into the upstairs window and managed to turn off the water. Half my flat was trashed and I and my flatmate had to move out for 10 months until it was fixed.
During a previous big freeze pipe burst in empty top flat (Council owned).
No individual stopcocks in those days for most flats. Broke in and somehow managed to point the gushing pipe out of the window onto the backgreen!
All lead so easy to bend (presume I must have hacksawed it at the burst).
The Innocent was gritted on Thursday, insofar as there were two large piles of non-spread-out salty grit at the foot of the tunnel.
Zero ice on canal yesterday. Not sure how it is today?
Thanks @SRD for re-activating thread btw. The other LB Flckr archive has many memories of that period.
A time when daughter helped out moving bikes (generally not Moultons) from garage up to Argyle Place - this was pre LB shop. Our pre Helios yellow tandem can be seen. (Long gone to a new owner in Cork).
