5 candidates (so far) in 90 minutes doesn't give them each much time.

I wonder what questions will be asked?

@Hankchief, re the Drumbrae hustings, Did the Tory Candidate (Mark Brown?) Give any indication as to why he is against the roll out of more 20mph zones in his constituency? Or indeed what he plans to do to try and stop the amount of traffic snarling up the arterial roads in the area during peak times?

re PPBs I've not personally seen any of these but can imagine it's quite hard to put much in the way of local policy into a PPB which is going out nationally. They can't talk about 20mph zones or 10% funding for cycling after all as there are plenty councils still living in the 1960s.

"it's quite hard to put much in the way of local policy into a PPB which is going out nationally"

But the weird thing is that some parties used their PPBs to only/mostly talk about IndyRef2 and some of the same parties have now brought out 'manifestos for the local elections'.

Don't want to think about the PPBs (and everything else) for the coming GE!

Interesting little detail hidden in Guardian report on launch of SNP Council election manifesto.

"Sturgeon’s launch of both her national council manifesto and the Edinburgh SNP manifesto took place on Friday without the SNP group leader in Edinburgh, Frank Ross.

It is understood a complaint has been made against Ross to the standards commissioner for Scotland after the Herald revealed that he had failed to register his ownership of a hotel near his second home in the Highlands."

@acs I've previous ask him (our Conservative candidate) about which local roads shouldn't be 20mph.

He said it wasn't up to him, him wants the local people to decide...

Oh and obviously he thought the road we were standing on should be 20mph...

I've been giving some good consideration to where I'll rank Harald Tobermann on my ballot and it's not going to be number 1

His tweets seem to suggest he is closer to an anti-progress Stop All Work Anywhere type than I originally had him down for, and is outwardly opposed to trams.

Maybe I'm reading these wrong so shall link for a second opinion

https://twitter.com/T4LeithWalk/status/852813270343798785 (Seems to imply against Sunday Parking charges)
https://twitter.com/RMcEphotography/status/854304569354055681 (Retweeted an unsuccessful anti-tram biased like/rt 'poll')
https://twitter.com/T4LeithWalk/status/855491215470538753 (Retweeted someone moaning that there's roadworks - hint - roads don't fix themselves)
https://twitter.com/T4LeithWalk/status/855492410096406529 (Attempt at humour no doubt, but red flag that he will oppose future work)

Does anyone have any anecdotes about the effectiveness of an independent councillor?

Both the SNP – who promise a £1 million “deep clean” of the city – and Labour now say they would go beyond the current policy and introduce free uplifts of bulky items
for householders and deploy more environmental wardens to deal with issues such as dog fouling.

Both these proposals also feature in the Greens’ manifesto, along with a pledge to promote community clean-ups and a call for a ban on disposable packaging at the council.

The Conservatives have reopened the controversy over the abandoned privatisation plans of the previous Lib Dem-SNP administration, saying they would make waste collection and street cleaning more cost-effective by tendering all or parts of the service.

@Klaxon, he does seem to complain a bit. Here's his campaign pledge sheet, which he's been ferrying around on a cargo bike 'battle bus':

@Klaxon You could tweet and ask him where he stands on the three We Walk, We Cycle, We Vote pledges

So far it looks as if 4 of your candidates have responded http://walkcyclevote.scot/candidate-info/?cons=S13002930

"new pavement/roads/cycle paths, more public transport, park and green space access, GP access and schools. And there must be resources and capacity to maintain all this properly. If for any reason this is not possible, these proposal(sic) should not go ahead."

Seems sensible to me. Development too often goes ahead without any consideration for any of these things. Who can get a GP appointment within a week nowadays? Tried getting a dentist recently? They are never taking new patients.

In Edinburgh, Scottish Conservatives have a clear plan to boost the local economy and create jobs.

We want to scrap plans to extend Sunday parking charges in the city centre, which threaten to damage what should be a good day for retailers.

"which threaten to damage what should be a good day for retailers."

Goodness me. They're no longer "conservative" they're just pro-business and 24/7 retail. True conservatives would perhaps be making the case for the Sabbath, the Lord's day, etc. not for Sunday as "what should be a good day for retailers." Should? Should?

Scottish "conservatives" could visit Germany sometime to see a different interpretation of Sunday...

"which threaten to damagemitigate what shcould be a goodbad day for retailersthe balance of payments."

You'd think the Ruth Davidsons would put the national finances before the wellbeing of department store shareholders. If people do local leisure activities they might perhaps spend in small local businesses instead of buying Chinese-made goods from chain retailers.

    Some "mini-manifestoes" from the Greens:

Disabled Greens (featuring a recumbent cyclist).
    Rainbow Greens (LGBT+)
    Womanifesto
    Young Greens

"You'd think the Ruth Davidsons would put the national finances before the wellbeing of department store shareholders."

    Would you?...

It's simple - 'people buy things, retailers employ people, shops make money and they and their employees pay tax' - which then gets wasted spent wisely on public services.

Credit card debts and balance of payment deficits are minor details (aren't they?)

Senior party sources have told The Herald that despite differences in certain parts of the city, over half those polled in Glasgow have said they would vote Nationalist.

Insiders also claimed the figures reflected the SNP’s ‘voter management strategy’, of fielding up to three candidates in some wards.

Positive strategies to tackle anti-social behaviour such as vandalism, aggressive driving & cycling, discourteous parking & dog-fouling .

Gavin Barrie or James Dalgleish first? I have two consecutive numbers to assign and I can't decide on an order - and my head now hurts (partly because I looked at the Scottish Libertarian website...)

"Gavin Barrie or James Dalgleish first?"

That seems like an unusual dilemma.

This may (or not) help -
