Turnout. Both declared wards over 50% turnout. That's high for local government. Any theories? Because every vote "counts" in stv system? Demographics?

@jdanielp I don't know about "...a 'level 5' fine or a jail term not exceeding three months..." but your 7 box quote risks getting you thrown off CCE for breaking rule 2... ;-)

@fimm indeed, but I'm sure I've seen worse and it wasn't aimed at anyone specific ;)

Forth 2xSNP, Con, Lab so that's a target ward which theGreens have lost, although Gillian did have to replace the original candidate who had to pull out and didn't do at all badly as it turns out.

@jdanielp, that's an interesting result. SNP effectively switched positions with Labour five years ago. I wonder if this is a pattern we'll see elsewhere in more urban areas? (Hope not, for the Greens' sake. We did well, but not quite enough votes to get in).

@ih, yes turnout seems high compared to last time. Almost 2007 levels.

If you look at the last round of the Almond Ward where it was just the 2 SNP candidates left.

On the elimination of Pamela Mitchell SNP, of her 1,691 votes only 1,356 were transfered to the other SNP candidate Norrie Workman.

Either something is wrong with how people thought they should fill it in or 20% of her voters don't like Norrie (the encumbent SNP councillor)

@crowriver yeah, I'd now be very surprised if the Greens win a non-target ward and I'm becoming concerned about not winning target seats and even losing existing :/

At least I'm going to a chocolate tasting this evening regardless of what happens...

@HankChief, quite a few folk don't seem to understand the voting system, so maybe they only cast one vote? Also, I suppose some people might like to give other parties a crack of the whip with their second, third etc. preferences?

@jdanielp, I'm also a bit worried about that. Seems there's a resurgence of Lib Dems and Tories, and Labour and SNP swapping places a bit. I hope we can at least hold the councillors we already have...

so maybe they only cast one vote

Looking at the breakdowns (https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/councilresults2017) most people seem to have grasped how to rank twice

Ward 1: 84 out of 14,200 votes non transferable after round 1 (0.6%)
    Ward 3: 148 out of 9,474 (1.6%)
    Ward 4: 274 out of 10399 (2.6%)

Wards 2, Pentland Hills, and 5, Inverleith, are being recounted just in case anyone is wondering why they haven't been declared yet so they will now come at the end of the day.

jdanielp: Is that a full rescan of every ballot and re-analysis by the operator of voting intention?

@hank_chief - That's in the last round, though. Those 20% have just left the last box blank, because it makes no difference.

60% turnout. That's higher than most places in the last Holyrood election.

Cyclist (Scott Arthur) in in Fairmilehead Colinton. Unfortunately he's also come across as a 20mph sceptic in his material and the EEN.
