Ward 12 Leith Walk results: 4 elected
    Marion Donaldson (Lab)
    Amy McNeese-Mechan (SNP)
    Susan Rae (Green)
    Lewis Ritchie (SNP)
    Turnout – 44.8%

Very pleased about Susan Rae. Poor old Nick Gardner though. Replaced by his running mate, and then ousted by an SNP candidate who seemed to have very few clues as to what she thought about anything (from what I could see).

It'll be interesting to see where Nick lost the vote

He was #1 on all the Labour literature and incumbent from 2012, while Marion won her seat in the 2015 by-election.

    SNP 1770

@Klaxon, I know, it's puzzling. I think Marion Donaldson has been quite high profile since she was elected, getting along to community events around the top of Easter Road / Abbeyhill that I've attended. Not a terribly impressive public speaker, but she turns up to stuff. Maybe Nick Gardner was just not doing enough of that, too involved in council committees, I don't know.

Also, apparently I just came through a door about 15 seconds before Ruth Davidson was due to do so to find a bank of about twenty cameras trained on me. I looked surprised and shuffled out of shot.

    That's one I don't understand. Here's the breakdown:

    Sighthill/Gorgie (ward 7) Edinburgh
    SNP 1190
    SNP 1574
    Tory 1621
    SNP 648
    Scot Greens 1,264
    LibDem 332
    Labour 844
    Labour 993

This shows why the 1st preference voter numbers are pretty irrelevant. At first glance the Green's appear to be in with a strong chance of a seat.

However looking at party lines SNP had more than twice the greens while both Tory and had more votes. This means that as votes are redistributed the greens end up in unlucky 5th place.

Some of the next preference votes obviously did change party but not enough to save the green candidate.

@crowriver indeed! I think the concerns from earlier are gradually being eroded.

@jdanielp can you please tell whoever is uploading the results to the council website to fix the link to the Leith Walk ward on https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/councilresults2017 (currently goes to Leith ward results)

@Klaxon not sure where that's being done so you might be better emailing/Tweeting.

    With 46 Councillors announced:

    Scottish Conservative and Unionist 13
    Scottish Liberal Democrats 5
    Scottish National Party 14
    Scottish Green Party 6
    Scottish Labour Party 8

So no two party coalition available if promises aren't broken.

Nigel Bagshaw is a huge loss.

Bad news in Inverleith. Nigel Bagshaw is out. I'm gutted, frankly.

    Ward 5 Inverleith #edincount results: 4 elected
    Gavin Barrie (SNP)
    Max Mitchell (Con)
    Hal Osler (Lib Dem)
    Iain Whyte (Con)
    Turnout – 56.6%

    Inverleith, Edinburgh results:
    Scot Green 1,669
    SNP 2,572
    Labour 1,678
    Tory 2,685
    LibDem 2,251
    Tory 2,323

LibDem & Tory gain at Labour & Green's expense.

@chdot yeah, the pre-recount numbers are what brought the mood down earlier so this wasn't unexpected but still disappointing!
