Who do we talk to about rude pedestrians? Living Streets? Someone shoved me the other day and I'm sure I've seen evidence of vomit on the pavements.

The Chief Walker is Theresa May.

If the Council don't pay attention to Spokes then why should cyclists?

Presumably we should be contacting Vince Cable to ask him to exert his influence over her inconsiderate councilloring.

My clear intention is to continue working on a social justice platform because I believe in caring capitalism.

    She sounds nice.

THE city council is to receive an extra £12.4 million following changes to the Scottish Government budget, prompting hopes that many of the cuts being proposed in the Capital can now be abandoned..

10% budget for cycling continues. Maybe we'll actually see some tangible benefits soon.

Stickman - triples all round at the Aecom offices today, I would imagine.

Cllr Macinnes continued: “We have been awarded two major projects to provide better cycle paths in and around Edinburgh Park, west of the city, and the Meadows to George Street. “We’re doing a lot with tram safety measures too where cyclists are looking to cross tram tracks. “This process is under way. However, it might be a bit down the road yet.” She added: “Cycling is very much our part of active travel and making the city healthier. “Sustainable travel is key to getting the city ready for the future.”

If I am not wrong, 5% of the entire transport budget (i.e. 50% of the cycling budget) will be spent on the NEPN (£900k).

This is the real scandal - that there is money, but no staffing resources to spend it wisely...

No doubt! Detailed design work on various delayed schemes should eat up that extra cash nicely.

EEN can't even get his ward right, despite including a quote from him where he names it.

"...he will still represent his Leith ward as an independent."

"'I have the honour of representing Leith Walk as an independent councillor.'"

"A keen boxer and runner, Cllr Ritchie was last year named chairman of the Royal Air Forces Association for Edinburgh, Lothian and Borders and is an army reservist."

Have to say that swatch of personal interests doesn't sound like a natural SNPer, unless we count the somewhat maverick Keith "Yomper" Brown tendency. Can an approach from the Lib Dems be far off?

    Conservative budget motion:

    http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/download/meetings/id/56207/conservative_group_budget_motion

31 Rejects the Administration’s pledge to ring-fence 10% of the roads and transport budget for cycling. Agrees that these resources should be committed to roads and pavement repairs to improve safety for all road and pavement users.

...but they will spend big in the war on the hard-pressed OLAM:

30 Approves additional expenditure of £15,000 for temporary mobile variable messaging signals to target enforcement of speed limits in residential and school zones.

Never forget that transport cycling is deeply subversive. Some conservatives have never forgiven the bicycle for allowing people to range beyond a day's walk to find a partner.

    @IWRATS:

    Priorities:

Further approves recurring revenue expenditure of £25,000 for Christmas decorations in high streets across the city and £20,000 to instigate a gull de-nesting service

Road safety < killing gulls < Christmas lights

Christmas lights that explode, killing gulls in a way in which their bodies fill potholes?

21 Wholly rejects the Administration’s proposal to introduce a £25 charge for garden waste collection and agrees to implement an opt in service for fortnightly collection of garden waste.

27 Rejects the Administration’s proposals to increase city centre pay and display charges by over 10% in 2018/19 and agrees to limit pay and display increases to 20p per hour. Further, agrees to freeze residential parking permit charges in 2018/19.

End the tax on hard-pressed, family motorists with private gardens, eh?

2 Instructs a strategic review of all school buildings and provision across the City of Edinburgh Council area coupled with a broader review of the Council’s estate.

3 Commits to making future decisions on new school buildings and refurbishments based on a community hub model whereby council and partner services currently delivered across multiple buildings are consolidated on a single site. Accordingly reducing the size and running costs of the Council’s estate without impacting services, reducing the requirement for backlog maintenance and realising capital receipts from disposal of vacated sites to fund future development.

Sell off the playing fields and schools to private developers for "luxury apartments" and co-locate job centres, social work offices, homeless shelters and police holding cells with state schools, so that the workshy proles may conveniently migrate from one to the next without sullying the city centre enterprise and international leisure services zone.

It seems that Cllr Cook likes unfunded cycle infrastructure... Ho hum...

I had Nick cook Pegged as an old fat bar steward but he is young in his photo on that pointless Twitter feed where he is reminded by hankchief of his party's manifesto pledges.

@HankChief: Confirms @IWRATS's Law Of Scottish Tories.

If Nick wants no new projects until the potholes are fixed then that's £120m we don't have to spend on the Sheriffhall upgrade.

I reiterate that I spent three hours with Cllr Nick Cook in his mum's garage in February 2014. He was practically a child at that point but very affable.

I don't believe the garage contained a functioning bicycle.

    @crowriver

The area where his parents' house is is ordered to the point of resembling married NCO's quarters at a barracks.

Gulls would hesitate to fly over. This may explain the muttering.

Oh man that thread is depressing.

Nick Cook wants cycle lanes but won't fund them.

Graham Hutchinson doesn't know that the Silverknowes shambles wasn't a cycling project.

Ian Whyte thinks potholes are more dangerous to cyclists and pedestrians than cars.

Edinburgh Tories don't give a monkey's about cycling.

I always find areas like that distinctly eerie. Curtain twitcher territory. Stepford Wives springs to mind.
