I would love to bring my boys (7 and 4) through from West Lothian for POP but I don't have a car. Is it realistic on public transport? Has anyone else survived the attempt?

Others will doubtless know more about the logistics of public transport from West Lothian (although plenty come to POP by train). If you find getting yourself, your boys and all your bikes there is too complicated, then it is entirely possible and welcome (although possibly less fun) to do POP on foot - we have a whole 'Pedestrian on Parliament' section as well.

Walk with boys on own bikes - or are you talking trailer/Kidseat?

Glad to know others have achieved it. Probably safest for the Tiddler if I supervise on foot, he's still a bit wobbly. Easiest not to wrangle an adult bike as well as wee folk and their wheels.

Kids start in a group at the front, and overall pace is quite low so you won't be last!

Wee bikes in bin bags should be ok on buses too.

Whereabouts in West Lothian? If you are using the Bathgate line, there's lots of flexible space on the trains and a frequent service.
