Stylish outerwear for riding and not-riding

    Looking for clothing recommendations!

    I bought my girlfriend the Vulpine Harrington for her Christmas which looks great and is making me jealous. I should move away from the hiviz look but don't want to create a his-n-hers matched look.

    What's good in the casual-cycling-jacket market?

    Commuter-friendly pockets with easy access to tickets and keys would be a real bonus. (I'm hoping beyond hope for a ski-jacket style pocket in my arm for keycard access. With the popularity/success of Oyster cards these things must exist somewhere.)

    I've got a Kathmandu merino with that unfortunately its in the wrong arm to be really useful. Came from my MIL in NZ so I've no idea if its available here.

    @steveo- Icebreaker is available here and it is great, will be at least as stylish as Kathmandu. Is expensive, but both Cotswold and Tiso have end of line reductions at the minute. Would recommend trying on before buying.

    @dougal- you could always try R*pha, but again only when discounts are available...

    @paddyirish I've had a look at their City range in the past and not been very impressed. It just seems to be the same thing you'd get from a bog standard Endura Gridlock but available in muted colours.

    I suppose it depends on your budget. Rapha has some amazing city wear but it costs an arm and a leg. Cafe Du Cycliste also has some really nice city stuff, but again not cheap. Probably closer to Vulpine prices. Chapeau's red rain jacket doesn't look -too-cyclisty, depending on what you wear it with...

    I figure if you're going to wear something endlessly it's worth the price tag. My winter Vulpine jacket hasn't been off my back since October. Amazing value and quality, even if it was expensive.

    Just bought a Trespass lightweight TP75 jacket in blue. Was £29 in sale.
    Really sensible weight and not too hot with good pockets and hood when I'm off bike. No pockets at rear - ok for me as many of my bikes have chairs. No longer back for people that go head down on bars. Otherwise very good - don't know about stylish.

    Personally I don't like tight jackets with too much lining. Trespass isn't a 'name' brand but does employ people at the HQ in Glasgow and produces in China. Endura do make some good stuff and best bet is to go round EBC, Tiso and other places and see what will wear well in the sometimes oily business of cycling.

    Herne hill Harrington looks nice. The vulpine is good, probably only showerproof and not hugely breathable but it is a non cycling cycling jacket. Has nice chest pocket, rear pocket I rarely use and two side pockets. Not cheap but deals were available.

    I have their shorts and a merino shirt from their sale. They recently sold themselves to their customers. The stuff is good.

    The woman's jacket is a little bit different in cut to the men's and you could get a different colour which might avoid the his and her. The herne hill Harrington has identical sleeves to my mind. Can't quite establish what the cloth is. Vulpine is cotton but apparently with silicon in the thread.

    Jigsaw are getting in on the acket now with a showerproof Harrington. Has taped seams. Not a cycling jacket at all but might work

    Never heard of Lumo before. They seem to be excessively pricey even for low-volume boutique cycling gear. See also Bee Clothing's attempt at a cycle jacket, clocking in at £400.
