I'm at a training thing there all day Wednesday. Since Sustrans are in the building too, can I assume there's somewhere it'll be okay to leave my Surly all day? Think I might take both D-locks...

Presumably there is somewhere at Haymarket which doesn't require double d locks for daytime parking.

Racks at Haymarket are in a period of transition. I would take two locks for sure.

I had previously assumed the new Haymarket station had some sort of decent bike parking inside, and have been annoyed all evening after realising that... no. They just didn't bother!

Could you borrow the bike racks at HMRC or COSLA's buildings, just along the way?

Bike parking at back of building beside car park. Ride tram tracks and first left. Unfortunately you can't use back door under building unless you have door code.
So you'll need to go back round front - at least on first visit till you get code.

My wife works at CHSS at same building. I generally just lock bike to front railings as can't be bothered with the walk from official bike park.

There used to be racks at the front - to the left of the front door, when facing it, but a little way away.

Can't ever remember racks at the front? I chained to railings at the front years ago. The pavement fairly narrow ? I was at a council building in leith called the fort recently. They have installed 10 racks which is great but parallel to the building so one bike going in makes it unlikely that 50per cent of the remains racks could be used. Should have taken a picture. Quite new and nicely contained but about half of them pointless.

I've been there a few times (if we're talking about the sustrans/Cosla building?). There's a picture of Andy from story bikes and me leafleting folk there for spokes. Pretty sure there were racks! don't think i imagined them? maybe unhurt will re-assure me that I didn't?

Just looked at the satellite view on my iPad (guess that's not Google maps?), which I'm pretty sure shows a few racks, at the far end of the car park, near the front of the building.

ah do you mean the back of the building in the car park? Like Laidback Dave mentioned? The door is on the main road, pretty sure I just chained my bike to railings there. was long time back. was getting a management guru seminar from a great presenter Michael Hammer who did the presentation at twice the speed anyone else could have managed thus saving considerable time. We hould all learn to speak quickly :-)

Under building parking. Facing west. Back door ahead. Mrs LB came down to get this stuff for CHSS summoned by text (a while back). May have been an entry buzzer - can't remember.

Bike parking on right - so all under cover and with camera I would expect.

Aha - I ended up just doing as Gembo and using the railings outside the front door, but if it's been wet I'd have investigated further. (V civilised loos in that building - a nice shower cubicle in the ladies. Sustrans influence?)

Dangerously close to The Bike Smith* though. I did need a new bell, but perhaps not one quite this fancy...

*and work is about to be just as close!
