Proposed Spring classic outing for all demographics of the CCE to Ratho. Dependent on weather could sit outside the bridge inn and while awAy the hours. Having a meal inside is not so cheap. It is nice. The cafe at the climbing centre is another option. The new Tarmac from hermiston to Ratho for nearly three miles is corking.

Interest expressed already on the other thread but request for a sepArate thread

Does the demographic for this outing allow for people under 4 feet tall whose age does not reach into double figures but who have previously demonstrated an ability to make this trip under their own steam...

Last time I went to Ratho my entire lower half was mud-coated. It was a lot of fun but.

All demographics welcome including wee demographics. The hankchief's are interested in the event. No mud to Ratho now as all tarmac

With the tarmac laid I guess it's no longer a grimaced hop from Hermiston Gait and in graphic mode we might even see a chromed pig or hear a magpie chord on this wildlife corridor.

In any case this dogear chimp for one is keen.

If it was the Easter weekend then I could bring the mini biketrains.

    Monday 28th?

No date will suit everyone, perhaps option for another date (Sat or Sun) a couple of weeks later?

I'm potentially up for providing my kingfisher-spotting expertise, but I'm going to be away over Easter weekend.

So, pick a date in the next month when Kf can be guaranteed.

(Bear in mind trip likely to be middle of day rather than first thing...)

Saturday I will have passenger, Monday I probably won't.

    "

Clip ‘n Climb will officially open on March 25 – and prices start from £8 for a junior and £15 for an adult for an hour’s session.

The new concept has created seven new jobs at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena and adds to the existing facilities of a soft play, gym, cafe and the existing climbing walls.

Would prefer a weekend day, as not in the Easter holiday demographic.

I'm minded to be supportive of this brave new cycling initiative. Have a two seater bike that could be applied. Normally use empty bus lane to get out of town on a Sunday. Canal the whole way is tough as you get closer to town.

I will of course abide by a majority decision.

Can a lot of people cycle the bit from hermiston to Ratho now please as they have put the wee stones down which is hard going until they are pressed in. I turned back tonight as I needed home before daylight ended.

How about Saturday the 16th of April, grand depart lochrin basin, people joining along the route? Set off from lochrin 10.30am, picnic or bridge inn or climbing centre lunch stop dependent on taste, cost etc 13.30 -15.00. Return to basin for 18.00pm will be light. Kids not at school on the Monday.

Faster cats can over shoot Ratho and go kingfisher spotting between Ratho and the almond aqueduct? I have seen a kingfisher there. If the kingfisher magnet is coming I feel we will be lucky.
