I believe I may have solved the problem for the tandem riders from Fife getting back on Saturday afternoon, and am contacting folk directly - as this may also offer more opportunities for days out to tandem groups.
There is an 'issue' which may impact on those heading back to the West namely NO TRAINS are running to Glasgow Queen Street High Level for another 18 weeks. This means that only half the number of Falkirk High services are running, and a range of various short stopping and diverted services is set-up. To cover the demand the Bathgate trains should be running as 6-car trains.
There are however Citylink coaches every 15 minutes and the conditions of carriage do permit bikes in bags, likewise Stagecoach express coaches run to Fife and I believe there is also a Firstbus coach service to Dunbar via Haddington. I hope that this detail can be briefed to the drivers and bus station staff, and an arrangement for sacks/covers or bags for the bikes sorted.
There are also 3 HST's heading beyond Edinburgh pm, timetabled to stand for between 5 and 9 minutes, enough time to allow the organised loading of a 'full' load of bikes, with unloading at a limited number of stations, where there is also a generous timetabled stop. 1 Train to Stirling, Perth, Inverness 1 train to Dundee (and Aberdeen) and a late-ish one to Glasgow.
Some of these arrangements may need a marshalling presence. I'm contacting Sally H
