I couldn't see this anywhere else, so ...

Taxi tries to force its way past a cyclist, where the tram lines turn up St Andrew's Sq from Princes St, cyclist loudly objects, much cursing & swearing from both parties. Taxi eventually carries on, only for the driver to wait in the middle of the road for the cyclist, who he punches !

Video ends with police being called, driver was apparently charged with assault & careless driving.

We really don't need aggressive drivers/thugs like this on the roads. He needs to calm right down, or hand his license back.

DM piece doesn't seem to realise there has been a court case -

However not seen any press stories about that.

    Getting stranger.

Now in EN, but they don't seem to know who driver was, or when/where the court case was!

    "

The taxi driver has been fined £360 for driving without due care and attention and has had nine penalty points added to his driving licence.

Just seen this for the first time. Breathtaking.

If I lie in wait for someone and punch them as they go by will I get away with it if I don't drive to the ambush site?

Found the taxi forum; there's only one comment on the post for this story:

"Both were as bad as each other" - what does that even mean? They both tried to overtake the other in a dangerous fashion, and then both waited back to punch the other?

I call you a nob you punch me - it is the same thing isn't it.

Oh wait, one is name calling and the other is premeditated assault.

One is free the other carries a £360 fine, court costs and because it happened the driving offences were also prosecuted.

There seems to be too many people getting off with assaults on cyclists these days :(

I'm not going to address the driving, that is plain to see.

However "I call you a nob you punch me - it is the same thing isn't it."

OK, I've made it into the middle clsses now so frown on such behaviour, but... in a previous life, calling someone a nob was akin to inviting them to try and punch you.

The cyclist in question does sound as if he is inviting the taxi driver to retort in some fashion....

Shane Sutton must (allegedly) have invited an awful lot of punches. I wonder how many have connected...

How long has nob been 'k'less? I don't want to commit any social blunders.
