It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

A how to page would be fantastic - I generally field a few enquiries from prospective feeder ride runners and it would be good to point people to something
Obviously running a feeder ride from Glasgow or Kirkcaldy is a different beast than one from Harrison Park - we may need to differentiate a bit.
The bike decoration part sounds great - definitely something to encourage
How about I write a thing based on my experiences + the observations here and run it past @HC and @Rosie as Costorburn leaders and we agree that as the advice on how to run a feeder ride from inside Edinburgh. If you'd like to join in the discussion PM me your email address and I'll include you.
@SRD Yes, Gillespie's arranged an unofficial mini-feed, via their email newsletter.

A map with all the feeder routes would be useful for determining which one to join and where.
@Greenroofer - yes please, that would be excellent. I'll see if the West Coast Velo types or similar want to do one about organising the longer rides

He was on the Corstorburn Feeder ride and took a very good picture of the ride filling Russell Road.
He posted it on Facebook & I 'borrowed' it to tweet councillors.
Hoping to get his approval for me to use it a bit more widely and have tried Facebook Messenger but not had a reply.
Would also be useful to get a hi-res version.
Any ideas, or do you think it is fair game to 'borrow' again?
Facebook is very hit or miss for messages to people other than friends. It has a spam algorithm which filters random messages into a background folder which you have to go hunting for to find. So he probably doesn't realise you've been in touch rather than ignoring you.

Could you comment under the photo or, if there was a feeder ride Facebook group, post there?

Well yes, but not much has happened yet.
Before we get the maps out and start plotting routes, it would be useful to get more background info.
I'm not entirely sure who the 'we' is going to be, either. Anyone with any inclination to help in the planning please let me know.

@HankChief - I'll take Southside/Newington & Liberton/Gilmerton if required, with one caveat - as long as PoP2017 isn't on a Sunday.
It may require a bit more effort on my part (and other volunteers welcome), as my previous attempt at a "build it and they will come" southern feeder didn't work...
Probably need to engage with the local schools more, perhaps community councils, and maybe a leaflet campaign in the area.

To be honest I have not really done much organising, just showed up and lent a hand.
I'm happy to host an information page on my blog if that would be useful, but I think it could just as well go on the PoP website's resources page.
I'm officially not resident in the same council constituency as Harrison Park - I'm lumped in with Sighthill etc further west I think (I was looking at a map the other day but I can't remember where it was). A Sighthill feeder ride would be interesting....

I think nearer the time, councillors will be asked if they want to join a ride, so that might help to create one from each ward.
Worth people thinking about the best place to start in each ward - plus possible routes to next starting point/feeder rides gathering place.
@Roibeard. There is at least a small demand for a Shawfair feeder ride. My dad came across the details of last years ride somewhere and turned up for it this year, although quickly realised nothing was happening and made his own way in.

Station would be a good starting point - big carpark (free?) for those who have to drive from further out.

@sally, No harm done. He's quite happy riding by himself in town and even managed to get his shopping done on the way in.
@fimm - I did say I'd write a 'thing', and I will very shortly. Just tied up right now handing over a commitment from my non-cycling life (although, interestingly, I'm handing it over to @david.nutter of this parish, so my two lives are quite intertwined). I'll have written the 'thing' by the end of May.

Have I just got myself into organising this? (It will, quite seriously, depend on what Boyfriend of Fimm is doing that day - if he wants to run from Milngavie to Tyndrum again that takes priority.)
Hi guys, I didn't think there was a huge amount of time needed to organise our ride. I did one for 2015 from Roseburn Park too, and it was all straightforward.
- find couple volunteers willing to help
- plot route
- recce and risk assess route. Tweak if required
- post up some promo
- turn up on the day with some tools and ride
I think us west-siders are relatively lucky in that the route is gentle and there isn't a huge amount on busy roads. The big thing for me was having people able to cork the roads while the group crossed. Having the police help this year was also amazing, so kudos to HankChief for organising that.
I am happy to help with next year :)
