Can I just say how surprised I am by the various building contractors that we have to pass on our feeder ride.

4 different ones have all been very helpful to us.

(The Dalry barriers will be collected tonight)

I think we're all set for tomorrow, we have our permissions, our flags have been spread across West Edinburgh ready for our various joining points. We have our Marshalls briefing call tonight to check all is in orderr and we'll be good to go.

Hope everyone feeders go smoothly tomorrow and we'll see you on the road or in the Meadows. Please take lots of photos.

    Great work Hankchief,

The council clearly haven't read their own copy and past permission letter:

The procession will at all times continue moving and no part will stop except for emergency purpose
So we can ignore red lights

After the procession concludes participants disperse at the specified times above.
I guess we can disperse around the queue

No vehicles or animals should be part of the procession unless by approval of Police Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council prior to the day of the event.
They know the purpose so safe to assume our vehicles are OK but why even include this.

Official(s) are appointed to liaise with the police/council officer and shall indentify themselves to the Police Officer/Council Officer in Charge at the assembly point before the commencement of the parade/procession.
Are they even going to send one?

    and my personal favourite:
Unless prior agreement, all persons participating in the parade/procession shall not walk more than six and not less than four abreast.

Seriously though I cannot begin to comprehend how organised you have been in pulling this all together and liaising with all necessary parties.

Restalrig Path from Leith Links to Hawkhill swept. Lochend Park clear from the middle cut-through by the muddy slope to the Marionville exit. If the feeder avoids an extra chunk of Marionville by going behind Sainsbury then there are always a few chunks which get kicked back into the path as there are no verges to sweep onto. Haven't done Easter Road to Hawkhill yet.

    @hankchief

Dalry barriers still there as of 17-30 this afternoon. However, they have been ...ahem... automagically moved to leave a large gap where the drop kerb is

Help! Are any of the Harrison Park marshals up and able to print a couple of documents out for me? You know who you are, please email me if you can help.

You have email. Thank you so much.

    EDIT:
Just been out to collect tabards and check HP route - came back via Telfer subway and reverse of HankChief's route - credit where credit is due, the barriers have completely gone.

    Phew...

Well that went as smooth as it could do.
About 150 by the time we got to the Meadows :-)

Thanks to my marshalls & helpers and the various people i've pestered in the last week.

    Bring on the Glasgow ride...

Yes the feeder ride went well.

Some protests struggle to even get 150 - we got that on the way to the protest!

Harrison Park had a dog ;-)
Front basket passenger on an elephant bike, no less.

I think our ride went OK. I didn't do a very good job of organising the marshals... I think I did an OK job of explaining the ride to everyone (feedback welcome). Thanks to chrisfl for being lead person, SRD for being tail, pisoad and jdanielp and Mr SRD for helping along the way.

Traffic lights did split us a bit, but it seemed to be OK. I think we may have caused more issues at the Gilmore Place temporary lights (by the time the tail of the group had got through, the lights had gone red for oncoming traffic; I wonder if we'd have been better (if illegal) to just keep getting everyone through until everyone was out of the way...)

We had some flags left over - I gave 3 to a woman with a trailer, saying "Please would you carry these for me, I can't fit them on my bike!".

@fimm, hankchief had an agreement with the builders that took us all in a oner round from pedestrian lights up to leamington lift bridge. At other times we did just stop the traffic and all get out. The only issue we were aware of (good to wear shades on an overcast Gorgie Dalry morning) was a road cyclist who was intent on ploughing through us despite the traffic being stopped. I had to offer her an individual stop sign by putting my palm out towards her ( she was still some way off) which did make her brake and wait but she tired of this and came out and joined us for a bit but then turned round and cycled back into us. No harm done there though all fine so yes I would go always where safe just t stop traffic and get everyone round in a oner.

Some great shots here from the West Edinburgh feeder ride by a local photographer.

And on the POP Facebook site the Dunfermline Cycling Club have posted a video of the merging of the Fife and West Edinburgh Feeder rides. It us a minute to have everyone (150+) joined up and away. Huge capacity on the roads if you use them properly.

(Sorry - can't work out how to share that one but have asked nicely for a copy)

    (Can’t find 2018 thread)

At #TECttee Councillor @ProfScottThinks raises need for investment in outer areas e.g. #Colinton #Fairmilehead #Liberton. The local ride to @POPScotland #PoP2018 was 'tortuous.' Officers will meet him & locals to discuss.
