CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Better get Johnston Terrace open again then...
Can anyone explain the schedule to me?:
16:00 Hill climb
17:00 Support races on circuit
18:00 Brother Corporate Grand Prix
19:30 Pearl Izumi Tour Series race starts
I get that 19.30 is the main race, but what are the other 3? is 'support' races the EBC juniors? who's doing the 'hill climb'? Two years ago there was a serious women's race. guess that's not on this year?
From what I understand, the Hill Climb is like the Red Bull hill climb from a couple of years ago - presumably punters sprinting up Victoria Street?
The support races is amateur race(s) on the circuit. I'm aware of a blokes' cat 2/3/4 race; don't know what the others might be. I'd hope there'd be a women's race.
The Brother Corporate Grand Prix is a companies relay thing. It's mixed, but I don't know if the exact M/F ratio is prescribed.
"Two years ago there was a serious women's race. guess that's not on this year?"
Didn't Katie Archibald win it?
It would suck if the women's race isn't on again.
No women's race in Edinburgh this year: http://hub.chainreactioncycles.com/event/pearl-izumi-tour-series-2016/
EDIT: Beaten to it.
"I don't know if the exact M/F ratio is prescribed"
Our company team is sadly all-male, so presumably not.
It has always been the case that there were fewer women's pro races than men's races in the series. (For the usual reasons, no doubt). I think I read somewhere that this year there is one more women's race than in previous years.
Hopefully eventually we'll get to the point where all venues have both races.
Here we go:
"The Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series will enter its sixth season in 2016 ... A four round Series was launched in 2011, which grew to five events 12-months later ... In 2016 ... another round [is] added to take the total number of races to six..."
(The men's races started in 2009.)
OK!! Who is going to watch/drink, and where are we planning on standing? A couple of years ago I and PS (and co) stood outside the bar on Victoria street. I'd prefer something with more of a view this year.
LB and EdFoC are there but in middle zone. Not best view.
I'm thinking the terrace on Victoria Street might be ideal. Gives a choice of watching them climb Victoria St or start the descent of Johnston Terrace.
will be there with the fietsclub balerno having meal in hammams. Think it might have a view
Terrace on Victoria St is good (Hammas has seats there). Used to go there to watch Nocturne including races featuring WC and Min on folders amongst others...
Eileen Roe won in Motherwell last night, great victory!
really wish edinburgh had had a women's race too. we're going to try and take the kids to see some of it, but the timing of the women's race would have been more family-friendly.
Just saw a whole team having coffee on the Grassmarket, flash bikes casually propped three deep against bollards.
Also, a wierd preponderance of no parking notices for tomorrow in places no one is allowed to park anyhoo.
Boyfriend of Fimm has uploaded a Strava track and entitled it "Team Raleigh giving cyclists a bad name". I know no more... I will report back when I do!
(Could be tongue in cheek or he could be genuinely unhappy about something...)
Went through a red light (at which BoF was waiting).
Bad form, gentlemen.
Yes the terrace is probably best. Victoria Street is a silly place.

Here's course from info we have.
Pearl Izumi Course 2016
"
Local interest tonight will centre on Team Raleigh’s Evan Oliphant, who is hoping to put on a show for his supporters. “It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to have a top race on my doorstep and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in front of friends and family,” he said.
"
I had a couple of pro-looking cyclists just ahead of me on Granton Rd West this morning... then further ahead of me... then further still...
They had matching kits, but I couldn't see which team.
Well, we had a nice early supper at Petit Paris, headed out, chatted with Laidback, found a spot near the start, and then just after the race started, the heavens opened. Total downpour. Pretty miserable. Kids had fun though until we dragged em home soaking wet.
Spotted PS giving beer to a rider outside bow bar in earlier races. Also shuggiet.
Evan oliphant nearly lapped by the winner but managed to keep his position. The winner Graham ? Rigg was ahead from almost the beginning
I rode the Johnston terrace stretch at the end which was nice

Was a very soggy Marshal on West Port just opposite the Moggy Cafe- They were concerned about the chicane onto the cobbles at Grassmarket and the organisers expected a few offs, so wanted us to be able to warn riders to slow down if there was a crash. A friend was closer to the corner and was told by one of the teams not to move, as he was to be their braking point.
Thankfully, apart from a lot of wobbles, a number of unclips and one guy almost crashing in to the barriers, everyone stayed upright. Got a great view of all of West Port and Briggs was dominant, you could see it lap by lap.
Passers by seemed more interested in the moggies than the cycling...
ITV4 highlights were pretty good watching. Even the dreaded Carlton Kirby couldn't ruin it.
