After dropping the car off at Dalkeith Ford this morning for its MOT, I was cycling into the office and came across someone's keys in the cycle lane, very close to the SQA Dalkeith office. They had a thing on them which suggested I could phone it to find out how to return them to the owner, but the policy had lapsed and they couldn't help.

Did anyone lose their keys this morning?

If not, what do I do with them? Do I hand them to the police? I suspect they have better things to be doing with their time, but tbh I don't know what other options are available.

The police here have a biscuit tin full of keys. I know because I rooted though it once looking for a car key. It cost me £250 in the end.

I found a drivers licence today. Handed it in at Gayfield where the Clerk was happy to take it and give me a receipt (worth it to see some real, live triplicate paper!). By the magic of facebook I was also able to find the guy from the details on the card and tell him where he could go find it.

It's a duty of the Police, they have a central Lost Property office for each division where it accumulates and is stored from other stations, which according to the receipt I was given is Dalkeith for that area.

They weren't very impressed when I handed in the iPhone 4 I found on the A89. I couldn't think of anything else to do with it. A few cars had driven over it before I found it.
