Portobello Organic Market features the best of artisan and organic food, drink and arts & crafts sourced from the south east of Scotland. November’s market is this Saturday 6th. New stalls will include salmon, game, fudge, jam, children’s clothes and screen prints.

And on 4th December we'll be holding a Christmas special, with a range of festive foods and giftware available.

With an open plan lay out and up to 25 stalls selling a wide range of produce, what better way to start your month?

Venue: Brighton Park, Brighton Place, Portobello, Edinburgh.
Opening Times: 10am to 2pm, on the first Saturday of every month.

That reminds me. Did anyone catch the Armstrong and Miller sketch on Saturday night about Farmers' Markets?

    Should be on iPlayer.

Had been wondering if others would be interested in the shopping comparison done by East Coast Organics. Was going to send a link to their website, but this appears not to be on it. PM me if you would like the full comparison emailed to you -- it breaks down all the items and cost - interesting reading!

"We were recently asked if we had done another one of our price comparison surveys. Initially I thought that there would be no point as I thought Supermarkets had almost dropped fresh organic produce from their stores. However, after nothing better to do on a Saturday night, sad I know, here are the latest results.

It appears that the delivered price of a £12 veg box from us is nearly half that of what it would cost from Tesco.

Depending on what is in the box, our produce even costs less than Tesco conventional produce including 'Value' range.

    Note:

Our box items have been tailored to suit what was actually available in store to compare.

Our weights of produce are normally slightly over in the boxes.

Fruit is difficult to compare accurately as it is done by count in Supermarkets"

@chdot I hope this doesn't infringe forum policy but my wife is happy to offer discounts to members of this forum: The Frugal Cool Eco Market stall will be offering £1 off the normal price of Bike Floss £3.50 reduced from £4.50 and Green Oil reduced in price to £1* (basically to get rid of it) to anyone who turns up at the stall and mentions City Cycling Edinburgh. *while stocks last, one per customer

"Green Oil reduced in price to £1"

Mmm almost worth going to Porty for.

Unfortunately I'll be at the Cyclenation Conference - they'd sell out there!
