Glad to report that the badly filled in trench across the path next to Ainslie Park Leisure Centre has now been reinstated and is a nice smooth surface as it should have been in the first place. I'd e-mailed edincore only a couple of days ago complaining abou the state of it and potential danger to cyclists. Sorted now so that's good.

Aceness. I'll try and pop down the WoL to see how it's getting on after being EdinCored.

Great stuff! Been off the bike this week as I'm recovering from a chesty cold (and need to fit my new wheels at the weekend), but looking forward to a smoother, ditch-free ride next week.

Couldn't tell if that was new or my imagination. Definitely an improvement when coming down the way.

I've got to say that all things considered, Edincore have done an excellent job here. Firstly they didn't shut the path for a month or two to get the work done, which could easily have happened. The reinstatement is better than anything else on the path. If they could only have not covered it in mud for a while (and filled the trenches a bit faster) it would have been textbook.
Thanks to everyone who nudged them.

Can you get a works protocol detail from Edincore?
Should include compliance in the spirit of Chapter 8 (signage & protection of road works per TSRGD) during works. Plus assurance that their contractors (as I suspect Edincore actually engage McNicholas or others who carry out street works to do their installation works)
I must say that I was impressed by the contractors employed by Virgin Media repairing their access chamber covers on Atholl Place recently. Proper cutting back of damaged tarmac to sound square faces, proper priming of repair joint with tar seal, properly compacted. repair

Meant to say that there's a new badly-filled trench which has been dug across the path just down from the Red Bridge as it crosses Crewe Road North.
Wasn't there on Tues morning, but was there on the way home that afternoon.
Here's hoping they come back and reinstate it properly without having to be prompted!

Slightly OT, in the grounds of Craigmount they've done a variety of very neat work and some slap in and run stuff. They're still in the area so hopefully they'll be back.
