This should be looked on as an opportunity to get a decent responsible bus operator to run East Lothians main bus network.

I presume you're referring to Lothian Buses? They already have the new offshoot East Lothian Buses, so I imagine some deal could be struck with East Lothian Council to sort out services to Musselburgh and North Berwick. I mean the 26 already goes to Seton Sands, and the 44 to Tranent. So it's not a great leap to imagine East Lothian Buses running the replacements for North Berwick for example.

East Lothian Labour MSP and former bus conductor Iain Gray said he would approach Lothian Buses to ask the firm to make sure all routes were covered.

    "routes have not been viable"

Would that be ever since you started the "exact change only" regime despite it not being possible to find out what the fair is before you actually get on the bus?

I hate them but they are better than nothing. I hope the routes are taken over by a decent operator.

I usually try to grab a Perryman's bus from/to Dunbar when I have to take a bus.

Oops, I do know the difference between fare and fair by the way.

The First Bus fare system is not fair.

EastCoastbuses launches two new routes on Sunday 14 August connecting North Berwick with Musselburgh and Edinburgh and Dunbar with Haddington and Edinburgh.

It's not even consistent from one day to the next. I threw in a handful of coins the other day and asked for a ticket back to Musselburgh. I paid about 30p less than the ticket price which was 30p more than I'd been charged for the same journey two days before.
