    I got 2 rear and one of the front cob lights, and some socks in Dunfermline on Saturday.

    Plenty stock, but unfortunately the front light doesn't work and we won't be in Dunf for a while. Don't know what chances of Wife getting it changed in Livi today are.

  2. Cob lights were almost all gone in Livi when I was in on Fri, only a few of each left.

    Only massive merino sizes left as well.

    @baldcyclist - does the power button feel like it isn't 'clicking'?

    There should be a positive click when you push it. I'd already taken a front one back for the same issue then noticed the rear one was doing the same so pulled the rubber button out. There's a small piece of plastic which hits the internal switch which had simply moved slightly. Popped the rubber button back in and working fine. (I know you shouldn't have to do things like that but for the sake of saving a journey!)

    My power button does not click either but it does work I wondered if mine was broken when got it out the box

    I can't remember the difference in feel between a working, and the non-working light. The button certainly moves, but can't remember if a definate click in either.

    I wondered if it wasn't charged, so tried that for a bit. When plugged in to my iPhone charger plug thing (checked specs 5V, 1W), the blue charge light came on, pulsed for a bit then went off. Think it's supposed to stay blue when charged.

    I'll have another look tonight at clickiness if mrs baldcyclist hasn't managed to change it.

  9. Rear COB lights are amazing for the money, but the bracket that attaches to the saddle rails lets it down big time.

    Mine snapped last night and I don't know where/when/how so I have lost the light :(

    It took me a while to figure out how to it fit mine, I first tried the rubber band thing to frame which seemed rubbish compared to a cateye clamp ,indeed had pound shop lights with better clamps than the rubber band it came with. So I then looked at the seat clamp after 20 minutes wondering where it goes figured out is for the underside of seat first thought was for rack. I guessed this is the one expected to be used as seems the highest quality of the 3 . It feels quite strong, sure no one has taxed it? The light looks a bit good I wondered if quite a chance of someone stealing it.

  11. Ed1, its the one fixed to the underside of seat that snapped on mine. Thought the rubber band might wear out faster, but the bracket lasted all of 2.5 days.

    The brackets do look to be a weakness.

    I wondered if I could retrofit a cateye bracket to take the plate like I did with my C&B seen light.

    Not actually tried yet though.

    Tested the following Aldi purchases for the first time today;

    Lovely
    - Merino baselayer.
    - Merino socks.

    Lovely but not yet cold enough to really warrant wearing, had to stop & take them off;
    - Under helmet beeny thing.
    - Winter Gloves.

    Yet to be tried;
    - Long sleeve top (will probably try on Saturday).

    Mrs McR also very happy with her purchases. All in all, highly successful shopping trip.

    I reckon better bang for buck than Decathlon by miles.

    @iain McR the Aldi kit especially their dear stuff is good quality. Have used the red merino base layer and winter gloves already. I bought the merino long johns in the wrong size but I am living with it. They are too warm.

  15. the bracket lasted all of 2.5 days.
    Really disappointed with the quality of these Aldi lights. My second one has just died on me after about a month's usage.

    The cobb light release seems fragile, I leave mine on although eventually someone may tax it, if took it on and off all the time think would not last; I estimate will get more use from it by leaving it on bike. My low bat light does not work so mine cuts out with no warning so possibly charge it to often

    Limited merino stock from today - ski midlayers.

    Got to Dalry 30 mins after opening, not much left from limited items there initially. Cycled over to Slateford shop. More there.

    I was thru in Bridge of Allan at the weekend and Stirling branch had a lot of Merino this afternoon - I got some long johns to replace my 'orrible synthetic ones used for skiing - £15, proper merino and quite funky styling too !

    @Nelly Lucky you. None of those in sight here. Suspect started with zero. Interesting how they spread stuff around their stores.

    Yep, pure luck on my part - to be honest every time I have been in that branch I have hit it lucky - most of the clientele dont look very sporty :-)

    I picked up long johns in the cycling sale months back. Black with red elastic. I bought the totally wrong size, they are too big but in fact I had them on yesterday when out running and then do not tell IWRATS but when I cycled down to beer factory for palozzi beer pack, five different labels on the bottles, including an earlier pop art example. A glass, beer mats and asked for some fridge magnet bottle openers. Chap says they will be doing a wheat beer and a brown ale but taking their time to get it right.

    Long johns good.

    and then do not tell IWRATS

    No one tells me anything and it's not fair.

    It is clear there was no consultation on the long johns to palozzi beer factory front

    I was in the Aldi on Gilmerton Road yesterday and noticed the bin outside was on fire. 19p bottle of mineral water - sorted.

    The trouble with people these days is that put cigarette ends in the bin, baby boomers would throw cigarettes and rubbish on the ground and leave dog mess on ground recall 80s as kid, but the youth of today are so self-satisfied they have the audacity to use a bin. I have had to put out the bin by the bakers in currie twice once with a coke and then with bike water bottle.

    Once called 999 for the bin outside Tesco Express Leith Walk *well* alight

    They nipped round from McDonald Rd with a bucket of water and that was that

    The one and only time I've called 999 was for a burning bin on York Place. I asked if I needed to wait with it and they said no. As I walked on I heard 'nee nah nee nah' start up in the distance and was quite pleased to know that they were coming in response to my call.
