@bax I used to keep an empty weetos box from the weetabix company into which I would insert a bag of Aldi wheat toes. Took my son about a year to rumble this though he claims he was just tolerating me.

I put out a bin fire on Middle Meadow Walk using the water from the students' goal post bases improvised from patio parasols. Not every day you get to fight fire with Quidditch water.

    Bump,

This is happening this Sunday, curious as we will all be out cycling. Stuff might not all go then by 8.30 a.m. But choice drops the later u go and resemblance to jumble sale increases throughout the day

Simples! Order clothing online. Return to store if you don't want it!

@jules878 that is what I started doing with EBC sale then so did everyone else and that made the shops quieter.

Never had much joy from aldi website. I always tryto buy lights from them as cheap moon copies that actually work. Strap broke recently so on my thinnest handlebar but that is fine but maybe lights not on sale in summer.

@gembo I'm confused. Aldi is multinational chain with more stores in Edinburgh than EBC has in total. So not really comparing like with like. Maybe I'm missing your point though?

The limited stock of "good items" in the Aldi "specialbuys" range will fly off shelf in couple hours, so if not available to go shop at 8am on Sunday then I was just saying that online order with free delivery seems like way to go.

I've placed an order for first time, so will see how that works. #fingerscrossed Assume they'll be happy for me to return it if it's not fit for purpose!

Yes sorry I was making a poor comparison. The online aspect of Aldi is something that you helpfully reminded me of (though I did not like their website a year ago and I like to order items online to pick up in shops, mthough not that important if fit through letterbox)

If weather goes as forecast I will be out cycling tomorow, if my weak chest allows. I do not really need kit but I do love a bargain.

The EBC online presence is I think quite strong. But they still sell the same item more than once and the person who buys it from their shops gets it. I used to go t the shop and it was a ruckus. However, the sale now largely happens on line. The ruckus has moved to Aldi.

I am away on line now.

I preordered the lights front and back rechargeable, only two Chinese child fingers burnt in the making.. Socks in biggest size all sold out. I love their socks. Ten pound elsewhere, 2.99 aldi

I'm not really sure that was worth queuing overnight in Gorgie for.

  22. Don't think they are in this sale, but the moon copy lights are great... except if you get them wet... or nudge the bracket at all as it will break. They are perfect if you just use them indoors.

the copy moon lights have served us well this winter, despite a lot of abuse (eg being on kids bikes, used most days etc)

My moon copy is still working used it all winter so survived the wet. After reading about the bracket snapping I leave mine on my bike only had it off bike may be 10 times. I think I am more careful with it after reading how they break

My Moon copy is also still going strong after the winter, although it does turn on if you knock it. Doesn't turn off when knocked again, which is good.

My moon copy was a disappointment, bright enough, still working, but only lasting ~1 hr per charge, which doesn't match my winter commute time on most occasions.

Conversely the cheaper light which came in a front/rear pair is much better, smaller, lighter and lasting >2hrs per charge.

I bought the nmoon copy before, very bright, many, many settings all lasting longer than an hour. THe strap broke but at tightest belt notch so still works on skinny handlebar.

I have purchased the front back set for £9.99 in the recent sale of yesterday. If i d not lose them before the winter, i will report back

There's still a reasonable choice in dunfermline. The fingerless gloves are pretty uncomfortable though.

yes, the fingerless gloves looked pretty cheap & nasty.

The cycling shorts are good, I bought 1 as a trial then 2 more on Monday.
