I am fed up of my Revolution cheapie eyewear made for gigantic heads. Maybe some rainbows?

I note that they also come with replacement nosepieces. That's a nice touch, if it doesn't say anything about longevity. My Smith titanium* cycling glasses had an integral rubber nosepiece which eventually went slimy and detached, and Smith said they would have to replace the whole frame, which they couldn't anyway because they'd stopped making it. After that I went back to using my Oakley M Frames, which Oakley kindly repaired. I still use the original blue iridium lens, though it's all kind of Trigger's Broom; the frame is a replacement, the nosepieces are replacements, and I have three other lenses.
On the 'other lenses' point, I bought one recently from GalaxyLense in Florida. Oddly cheap, apart from postage, but UVA and UVB.
The Aldi/Crivit sunglasses might be worth a look as a backup. Shame they don't provide a clear lens though as that is what I prefer most of the time.
* well, the legs were titanium.

They also have gaps in the structure which will stop them steaming up. Maybe worth a punt. Also their legendary bike stand

FWIW I have a set of cycling glasses with clear, yellow and dark neutral lenses which I'd be happy to donate FoC to anyone who wants them. I haven't used them in years, ever since I had to switch to prescription eyewear. I actually believe that I may never have used them.
All the lenses are clean & clear with no scratches. I've no idea of the brand, unless the "Filtral" wording next to the CE mark on one of the legs means anything. Or they might be Madison, since the soft fabric bag bears that name (although I think that came from an older pair). Black plastic frames with low profile rubber retention sleeves at the ear ends of the legs. Rubber nosepiece still in as-new condition (no spare provided). Come in a dinky zip-up pocket thingy with belt loops that looks a bit like a giant slice of Terry's Chocolate Orange (except it's black).
PM me if you fancy them and we can arrange a socially distanced handover.

Aldi winter socks are brill. Always on the lockout for more.

@iainmcr, the waterproof ones? I have loads. But this is a LIDL sale they are less good.
Aldi lights also ace

given up with waterproof socks - not convinced there's much point. Longer rides everything gonna get wet regardless - shorter ride take a dry pair.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Good for commute though

My waterproof socks started comfortably fitting my feet and have ended up shrinking to the size of my wife's feet.
I think either they shrunk in the wash, or I bought two pairs (one for her and one for me) and I've mislaid mine so now she's wearing the ones I bought for her anyway, thinking that they're my ones that have shrunk...
They are decent on very wet days.

Or your feet grew?
I wash mine at 40 degrees and then dry them inside out as you get a bad smell otherwise as. LOT OF WATER INside them

We were interested in one of those ceramic bbqs. None at Dalry. Has anyone seen one elsewhere?

@snowy, where Matalan used to be?
That small area has 2 Aldis and 2 LidlS
What does this tell us?
Posted 4 years ago # -
That's the one, yes
Posted 4 years ago # -
No longer!
Posted 4 years ago # -
@SRD that'll be the effect of the "lockdown" BBQ massive piling in to stock up for partying this weekend...
Posted 4 years ago # -
Yes, looks like bbqs selling fast... don’t know about ‘partying’. I’m sure we’re not the only people buying stuff for use in our garden, just like the gardening boom.

I bought the last bottle of Worcestershire Sauce in Scotmid today. There has been a world wide shortage. I dont touch the stuff as mad with little fish. But Mrs Garto likes the Umami of it

Arellcat, if you want clear lenses then buy Bolle safety glasses at a fraction of the price of "name" cycling ones. Built to a (certified) high standard of both strength and optical clarity. As stylish as the others
too in order to encourage gadgies on site to wear 'em.Posted 4 years ago # -
+1 for Bolle safety glasses, I have three pairs of Ness+ (clear, dark and "Csp" shown here) and they've been the best anti-fog glasses I've purchased, and have lasted to the rigors of a daily commute (whichever two aren't being worn live in the pannier). Think they were about the same price as the Lidl specs as well.

Thanks @Blueth and @lanterne bru. I am after clear glasses as well (most of my rides are with the sun on my back). I currently use cheap Decathlon ones but they easily get scratched and fogged up. I have to use them now as all flies seem to have emerged this week.

Decathlon sell a great pair oF SHADES FRO 20 POUNDS THAT GET LIGHTER OR DARKER by magic and do not fog up

Aldi cycling specialbuys on again this coming Sunday (27th)
Anyone know if the indoor trainer they do is any good? It was impossible to buy one anywhere during full lockdown. Just wondering whether it might be worth coughing £45 for a cheap one just in case we end up back there this autumn...

@ejstubbs, did you not try to win the good one during the Tour?
Posted 4 years ago # -
I got the merino leggings a couple of years ago and they've been great for camping. When I arrive I change into these and put my baggy shorts over the top to keep them clean for sleeping in.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Thanks @ejstubbs. I will be there for merino socks (This time for Mr Bill as well. They work very well walking as well).
@steveo I see the long johns are 100% merino. Are they stretchy? I have a 100% merino pair of Icebreakers and they are not stretchy at all. I kind of ruined them when I used them for cycling a few times.
Posted 4 years ago # -
They've got a bit of give but not much stretch if you get me. I've ridden in them a few times mostly in the mornings when it was too cold or midgy to be bothered getting changed and they're still okay but I only use them as an base layer and I've got heavier shorts on over the top.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I do yoga in my merino leggings (at home, I wouldn't wear them in a public class). You do have to sort of hitch them up at the knees to provide a bit of extra give.

I once say a man called Edward cycling around Stockbridge in merino base layers.
I feel he maybe was not fully clued up on cycling costumes
Or
Was warm enough in the base layers so logically why would you add more clothes.
Wonder what happened to him, his wife Eva and their cats?

Aldi autumn cycling specialbuys were in their stores a week or so back, apart from one or two items including the merino leggings, which were showing on the web site as delayed. I kept an eye on the web site as I've been pleased with the first pair I bought, and yesterday they were no longer marked as delayed so I popped in to my local Aldi today. No sign of merino leggings, though. Anyone able to advise whether I have simply missed the boat, or if they are not actually in the stores yet?
