I'm struggling with the website but it looks like some good things funded in our are by community links:

    https://sustranscommunitylinks.wordpress.com/2016-17-projects/

    https://communitylinks.cartodb.com/viz/7d09cf9e-228d-11e6-93fd-0e787de82d45/embed_map

it looks like the Dalry-Roseburn project's been funded (edit - this is still just design design work)

also something about the cobbles on the canal.

    the causewayside scheme too

also marchmont to KB - 150 000 - design and constrction. mentions segregation

quiet route 11 / telford path to Western General.

    "the causewayside scheme too"

    You mean Causey?

    Is there a list?

Do the dots on the map do anything when not viewed via iOS?

I had the same problem with the website and gave up trying to find out what was funded. Glad that the Causey project is on the list.

In order to deliver an ambitious programme of cycle projects in future years a significant amount of design and preparation work is needed to be undertaken, in particular to meet Sustrans funding deadline timescales. This package of work is for the design of 5 no. cycle schemes and the undertaking of other necessary preparatory work such as TROs, tender preparation, consultation and surveys. The 5 schemes are:1. Middle Meadow Walk to George St (NCN 1/75) - feasibility to full design for on-street cycle provision2. Charlotte Square to Lothian Road (QuietRoute 2) - feasibility to full design for on-street cycle provision 3. QuietRoute 6
(two parts). (1) Meadows to Lothian Road - Feasibility to full design for contra-flow and on street segregated cycle facilities. (2) Grange Road crossing: Preliminary to full design4. Holyrood Park to Pollock Halls and Ratcliffe Terrace, (QuietRoute 30) - crossings of major roads, on-street cycle provision and cycle contra-flows.In addition, the Council is currently developing a set of technical details forthe Edinburgh Street Design Guidance (ESDG), namely the Factsheets, to improve the concept and detailed design / provision for pedestrians and cyclists in Edinburgh. It sets out the Council's expectations, aspirations and standards for streets. This has to be used by anyone who designs, plans, manages, maintains, alters or constructs streets in Edinburgh.Previous Community Links funding has been committed to finalise the technical development of the factsheets (initial priority given to cycling and pedestrian related ones) and the initial development of a dedicatedwebsite for the Guidance. The website aims to guide (both internal and external designers: consultants and developers) through the Council's vision, objectives, commitments, the design principles and detailed design layout, material and furniture options and standards for different streets. It will present case studies (local, national and international) research background, and address the liability and the equality issues in design. The additional funding will be used to further developed the factsheets, .......

1.5 Million for the Causey, so with matched funding that's a three million pound project. Expecting some very fancy paving stones for that kind of cash!

Also LOTS of design money, at least two of the dots represent five schemes each.

@chdot yes - every pop up has tonnes of text but you can't copy and paste it in one go (or at least I can't). total pain.

This is a lot of design projects to handle for saying how few people the council employ on cycling matters these days... Still, it really shows the benefit of the council cycle funding

"every pop up has tonnes of text but you can't copy and paste it in one go (or at least I can't)."

    Yep, doubt if anyone can.

Can't even find useful/direct link from news story -

    "total pain"

    Yep.

It's time Sustrans did better - they can afford to...

    Potential cracking projects in there.

    £18m, or 0.5% of an A9 dualling.

Stickman - much worse than that! Just 0.006% of an A9 dualling. Two miles worth of A9 dualling would pay for a comprehensive city-wide on-street segregated cycle network.

@chdot yes - every pop up has tonnes of text but you can't copy and paste it in one go (or at least I can't). total pain.

If I understand your problem, you should be able to by:

Selecting the first portion of text (say, the first line) by left-clicking and dragging.
Release the left-click (text should stay highlighted).
Scroll down using the scroll wheel on your mouse(if you have one).
Hold down shift and left-click at the end of the paragraph.

Should then be able to copy and paste it.

If that doesn't work, I'm happy to copy and paste any information you want from there.

    So for example:
"This project involves the creation of an almost totally traffic-free connection in Edinburgh's proposed QuietRoutes cycle network. It would link the North Edinburgh Path Network and the Union Canal (NCN1 and NCN75/754), currently separated by an area of busy streets.

A link would also be created along the north side of the West Approach Road as far as Morrison Crescent, allowing safer and more convenient access to the Morrison St area avoiding the Haymarket junction. The current route proposal includes new bridges over the Mid Calder rail line and Dalry Road and an at-grade crossing of the West Approach Road, with the potential in the future for up to two additional bridges over the Edinburgh - Glasgow rail line and the West Approach Road. The route will also create new accessible green spaces and enhancements to existing community areas along the route, which has been identified as a priority green network connection in Edinburgh's Open Space strategy.

The project will integrate with CEC's wider proposals for upgrading the QuietRoutes Network, including improved connections between Roseburn and Leith Walk and between the Union Canal and the Meadows and provide a safer, more direct and convenient access to key destinations in the city by bicycle. An Initial feasibility study was undertaken in 2013/14 looking at the potential for this link and the estimated costs. Site investigations, design feasibility, stakeholder and public consultation have all been undertaken in 2015.

This work was part funded by 2015/16 Community Links funding. The preliminary design work, including landscaping proposals and vegetation retention and improvement strategies is currently being completed in preparation for planning submission in Q2 2016. The current bid would allow this work to continue up to full detailed design and preparation of tender documents for construction."

and SC - Union Towpath - Edinburgh Cobbles

Lowland Canals (Forth and Clyde and Union) in Scotland were re-established as strategic long distance walking and cycling routes in 2000. Since then, Scottish Canals (SC) and partners have invested over ?20million in establishing the canal towpath as an enjoyable, convenient and attractive place to undertake sustainable travel journeys. This investment continued in 2015/16 with Scottish Canals delivering more than £2million investment within the towpath network throughout Scotland. Scottish Canals has worked closely with Sustrans and other funding sources to continue the investment to improve the experience of active travel users along the canal towpath.

During 2012/13, SC reviewed the full length of the canal towpaths to highlight sections to be taken forward to improve the experience of the user and active travel modes. In addition to the condition survey, access issues have also been reviewed to improve ease of use by all users.

The canal often provides the most direct link between key trip generators and attractors, creating an attractive alternative to using a car or motorised vehicle for short distance (or even in some cases, long distance) journeys. The projects identified for 2016/17 deliver the missing upgraded links providing active travel users with a uniformed and uninterrupted bound surfaced towpath from Edinburgh to Falkirk.

This project provides a known issue at the start of the canal network in Edinburgh within the Lochrin Basin. Heritage is vital for the success of the towpath and this area is no different with the existing cobbles providing the historical picture of the original methods and surfaces the canal towpath was constructed by. This project will provide safe cycle cobbles for the users of this vital section of the family friendly network in Edinburgh.

37000 To do something with the cobbles at Fountainbridge? Is that before or after the area has been redeveloped?

I suspect it will be done in the next year, then ripped up again the year after. Similar happened with the new Burghimuir school - they'd just finished laying a new path when they builders started and ripped it up again.

stickman - whoops! You are, of course, correct.

The bit about two miles of A9 dualling paying for a segregated cycle network is correct though.

    At £630,000!

I imagine that's £30k for new bike racks and £600k to get cars to slow down?
