It is glorious weather for trying out a cargo bike to see if it fits your life style (or business). Why not give it a go?

Just a quick reminder that the EdFoC Urban Arrow cargo bike is available for hire.

I had my first ever shot of a cargo bike at the weekend. It was also my first ever shot of an electric bike. I hired the EdFOC's Urban Arrow (see link in post above) in order to do some running around that otherwise would have required driving.
Great fun.

We will, of course, need a photo of your dog in the Doggy Ride.

Naturally. Could be a while, will be taking it very slowly with getting him used to it.

@ Frenchy - were you at Dobbies Gardening World Extravaganza and Butterfly Emporium on Sat ? I noticed that bike parked next to mine when I exited 2 or 3ish.

Yes, that was me.

@Frenchy
You said you were hiring UA at PY on Friday so good to see it in use.
See you got a dog trailer and think you were doing other errand too.
It does tend to encourage the 'I might as well drop off stuff here / pick up stuff there' habit. Like having a car but able to take bigger items if you are careful!Posted 6 years ago # -
@ Frenchy. Argh. if only I'd known - that could have been my first 'spotted'. probably too late now to claim it.

@frenchy! This means you can bring your dog to PoP meetings, yes?
Also hmm I should probably hire the UA for that Ikea trip...

**commercial content warning**
Been busy using the 'cargo-ized' shop demo Helios tandem. I reckon it's better than a trailer in some ways as you can take loads outwith the track width. Down side is you could buy a few Elephant Bikes (fine machines of course!).
At least one forumer has the 'plug and play' cargo rack accessory.
Happy to let anyone on forum try. Chdot of course uses his 8Freight design which is a dedicated cargo machine. The Helios though has 18 speeds and some very low gears - the 8freight being 8 speed (EB is 3 speed?).

“Down side is you could buy a few Elephant Bikes“
Um, that sounds like an anti “commercial content warning”
Whatever the merits of EBs (many including price/value for money) they can’t carry as much as an 8 Freight or Helios with accessory cargo rack.
Things are no longer even ‘relative’ in a broken market system.
Cheaper to buy an old hatchback than a half decent ordinary bike nevermind a special carrier model!
Every Helios owner should have the rack.
Or maybe they just need to be able to hire one occasionally...

There's no denying the ingenuity of the Helios Rack. It's unfortunate that it costs more than some trailers though.

@acsimpson - agreed. Market proves that as sales of rack have been minimal! Trailer is an item that can be shared too.
I was approached by Italian make to look at demoing / stocking http://www.bicicapace.com/bikes/justlong
Yes... 'whisk of the tail'(!)
They have other bikes too at lower price than Helios but not sure of likely sales.Posted 6 years ago # -
