Does anyone have a helmet camera they would be willing to lend me for a few days?

Mini-morningsider and some of his friends are going to video the rubbish pedestrian and cycling environment around their school, and the terrible driving and parking at drop-off and pick-up times. The aim being to compile a short video giving a kids eye view of all this, which we will use to lobby the council for improvements.

I can collect/drop-off from anywhere in the city.

Also - any suggestions for video editing software welcome. I've never really done anything like this before.

Microsoft Movie Maker is free on PCs and perfectly good for basic film making.

In the interests of parity, iMovie on the Mac is pretty good* for bundled software.

    * Except the version I have, which can't even do slow-mo stuff.

I have a contour camera and a helmet mount you could borrow.

I've a few GoPros with various mounts - also happy to loan.

Unfortunately not including a chest mount, but feel free to buy one for me!

Another Contour Roam plus assorted fittings here (although the helmet mount is well stuck down to my own lid).

Garmin's VIRB edit is as usable for basic splicing/trimming as anything I've been able to get running. Contour clips work fine when their extension is changed to .MP4.

Also have a Contour and a strappy helmet-mount but also a VIRB with an easily-re-clamped handlebar-mount.

Thank you all for the generous offers. Given that my commute sometimes crosses that of Roiberad, it probably makes sense to take up his offer.

I have a Contour Roam available too + various mounts for handlebars and helmets. I am almost certain that I'm the closest CCE member to you :-)

Happy to help with video editing too, given that I share a vested interest in the results with you.

Presumably this filming will be done with parents nearby?

Is the idea that helmet cams will be 'invisible'/unobtrusive?

If not, might be simpler to use mobile phones and email clips to the editor(s).
