Anyone know of effective way to get rid of this? Also known as housemaid's knee (similar I think to tennis elbow). I tried a crepe bandage which made my leg warm. Ice cube worked at the time of the eruption to keep the swelling down.

If I keep cycling I imagine I will just have to get used to it

Can definitely recommend NHS Choices for any ailment http://www.nhs.uk/video/pages/housmaids-knee.aspx

I got this once when I slipped and fell right on my kneecap. I didn't treat it and eventually it went down. From the above link it does appear that there are options to help, although it doesn't look as though there is a miracle cure. Probably wise to do a bit more than I did! Hope you're better soon.

I know what the cure is for everything except housemaid's knee, but not housemaid's knee itself:

    “1 lb. beefsteak, with
    1 pt. bitter beer
    every 6 hours.
    1 ten-mile walk every morning.
1 bed at 11 sharp every night.
And don’t stuff up your head with things you don’t understand.”
