  1. Always happens when I'm not filming...

Down the short section of the Western Approach we're allowed on, turning right into Canning Street. I wait diligently at the red behind a car in front. The back and forth lights go red, our right turn filter goes green, away we go. I'm commuting later in the day, relaxed, and there's mud on the road, so I'm taking it easy. I tell you this so you'll understand that when the MX-5 blows through the lights from the west passing a couple of feet behind me, you'll understand his light had been red for a good ten seconds.

Clearly he saw the filter green and assumed (despite the arrow) that his light was green. One more car in front of me turning and I would likely have been toast (or at the very least he would have been in post-evasive-manouevre shock...)

Glad he missed you - that soundede scary. Hope you don't have a brown streak up your back (er, from the mud).

If we was coming from the west would he not have just had a red light (i.e. no green filter)?

  3. There's a green filter for turning right (into the Sheraton car park I think?). Still not much of an excuse. He seemed to look at the lights for the first time when I shouted as he cruised past my back wheel - probably drove on thinking I'd cut across him dangerously.
