This happened on a poorly-surfaced remote road near Kirkliston where I got a pinch puncture on my return to Edinburgh. I was on the phone trying to organise a pick-up but was going to struggle to explain where I was exactly given I wasn't too sure so thanks to the passing cyclist who not just gave me his spare inner tube but fitted it as well. He also used one of those new-fangled cartridge thingies to inflate the tyre.

As for muggins here - I did have a spare inner, provided by the shop I purchased the bike from, but the schrader valve wouldn't fit through the rim. I didn't think that a repair of the punctured inner was possible as the nice wee pump I recently purchased from Lidl appeared not to fit presta, only to find out when I got home that it does.

I can't repay the good samaritan except to make sure to follow his example (which it is to be hoped I would do anyway).

A good event - one of the reasons that many cyclists acknowledge each other.

Having a track pump at home is worth it. You may already have one but it makes life easy. 700c 25mm tyres need inflated quite regularly I find to keep at best 'anti-pinch' pressure. (Not max but well above min).

Hi LaidBack. Yes, I purchased a track pump as well from Lidl and made sure the tyres were at 110 before I went out - and I think I'm using it correctly.

Good to know that about those tyres as I was a bit dismayed that I had to keep inflating them thinking there must be something wrong with the tubes.
