Desmond Rubens, an active and passionate Spokes member, was killed in a mountaineering accident last week.
His family have scheduled his cremation service at Warriston Crematorium at 1pm next Wednesday, the 13th. In honour of his commitment to cycling and taking back road space and his sense of humour they have organised a bicycle-powered hearse.
Cyclists should convene at Mackenzie Miller funeral directors, 83 Great Junction Street, at 12pm on Wednesday the 13th. The convoy will proceed to Warriston Crematorium where all or some of the cyclists can form two ranks for the hearse to pass through as it enters.. The funeral directors will give directions as to formation on the day and t there will be some traffic control. Bike parking at the crematorium should not be a problem
All are welcome and bright coloured clothes are encouraged. Family flowers only, but charity contributions to the John Muir Trust are welcome.
