Police were called to incident on Easter Road just after 10am but reported no serious injuries.
It is understood the car failed to give way to the cyclist
Report is exactly as it should be: no "collision with a car". EEN journalists are learning.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!

Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

I fail to understand why comments are turned on for what is essentially a factual news story. Opinion pieces, sure, pitch in, but what does it matter what punters "opinions" are in this case?

Bad car.
I was at work late yesterday, the person who left before me (the second last person poout the door) said she was off to cycle home down Easter Road. I said take care they are mental drivers down that way. I then sent her the linkto the EEN story. Here is her reply
Eeek! Ye I am a total scaredy cat! I usually get off and push on roads like Easter Road! But they have opened up a wee shortcut now which comes from Albion Road to the back of Sainsbury’s at Meadowbank which is good as it means I don’t have to go near Easter Road and all the lorries and buses
I could have posted this on the thread about that very route or indeed on the new cycling thread. Anyway it is a good tale.
Post early, post often.
I was already past Sainsbury yesterday when I realised I could use that cut-through to get home as well as to pop to the shop.
Easter Road's not as bad downwards in the afternoon as motor traffic is more frequently stationary and doesn't really have a chance to try and overtake at unnecessarily high speeds until after Dalmeny Street.
They genuinely seem confused as to why some people cycle on the pavement, whilst reading an article about a cyclist who was hit by a vehicle.
I would like to think the driver will be prosecuted for careless driving but I very much doubt it as it was only a cyclist they hit :(
