Me - just cuts, bruises and some minor road rash though.

Cycling on the new route between the Meadows and Innocent. Crossing Clerk Street towards St Leonards when one of the Easylet vans that mooch around there pulls a quick u-turn at the very top of Rankellior Street (no signal). I pull on the brakes to avoid running into it and the bike slides out from under me on the greasy paving slabs of the new infrastructure - cue superman along the ground.

    Van drives off.

Thanks to the nice pedestrian that stopped and helped me up.

Would be nice if the council used higher friction surfaces than these paving slabs in new infrastructure - they seem pretty lethal when they are wet.

    Van should have stopped.

IIRC, even the mere presence of motor vehicle causing an injury / crash, they should stop, check if you're alright, give details etc.

Definitely a day for falls. Hope you're not too sore tonight.

Never cross a white line in the rain? Particularly going that fast and applying your brakes. Nice to see nibali sliding after him as pro racers must pull on their brakes when they see trouble same as we do. Imagine he would have avoided Froome if he had kept cycling without pulling the brakes. Hope neither are badly hurt. The guy earlier in green team colours was even more unlucky he was just going along minding his own business on a straight bit of road when he lost his wheel. As if he had been shot by a sniper. Despite the predictability of Froome win the tour this year has been very interesting and entertaining.

Loved eddy Merckx saying yes Froome was as good as eddy Merckx in the Tour de France but eddy Merckx cycled all the year Froome just focuses on the tour. Eddy Merckx always refers to himself as eddy Merckx which you are allowed to do when you are the greatest.

gembo - on the plus side, my jacket was in the pannier due to the steamy weather. On the down side, I wasn't wearing any gloves as the previous rain/steamy weather means they now rival Seafield for stinkiness.
