    Several mentions of bicycles... despite bicycles not having meshing gears! It's almost like these people have never seen a bike before.

    There are meshing gears out there, and they are to be lusted after.

    And I saw one chained to the railings outside Spikey Mike's at Easter.

    So if you write off the 4000 euros over the duration of a RTW trip, that works out at only 0.16 euros per mile. Bargain!

    I insist on including the risk of derailleur malfunction leading to death at some point on the circumnavigation in that calculation. Probability of failure pretty much 1 and value of life infinite.....
