" The pair, who have designed and built the vessel themselves, told the Plymouth Herald they expected the trip to take seven days." My bold.

The standard schoolchild question is, how do they go to the toilet? I wouldn't want to be amongst the welcoming party in St Malo.

100m deep! Some serious faith in one's engineering.

"A French duo attempting to cross the English Channel in a pedal-powered submarine have aborted their mission one day in after they found faults.
... the pair discovered a fault with the sonar and later found traces of carbon monoxide inside the vessel."

A crazy idea, but they are not that mad if they stopped for safety reasons

"If we can move 3 tons into hardly ever explored places with only a quarter of a horse power, do we really need a 80 hp car to do some shopping 2 miles from home?" from their website
(their previous trips include flying in a hot-air balloon underground!?)
