Hedley, 25, of Craigard Road, Dundee, had been trying to overtake a lorry at around 4.30am on February 21 last year when she hit Mr Christie, who was travelling home to Ladybank after going to an all-night garage.

Gobsmacked at the probable sentence. Unpaid work.

  3. Though interestingly this, "Sheriff Alastair Brown deferred sentence until next month for social work reports and released Hedley on bail meantime" means there's a chance of custodial.

Not sure the judge is entirely within his rights to suggest what the sentence should be...

There'll be the usual attitude: this sort of misfortune could happen to any driver.

i.e. That dangerous driving - including overtaking when you can't see if anything is coming the other way - is the accepted norm.
