Former Tory MSP Cameron Buchanan described it as an “absolute scandal”.

He said: “I heard of another company which couldn’t deliver because they weren’t able to double park – all they need is two people in the van and put on the hazard lights while one of them makes the delivery.”

I am guessing part of Tesco suspending delivery is the travel time which will presumably have increased markedly given the whole town centre is traffic chaos. Carmageddon In fact.

"all they need is two people in the van and put on the hazard lights while one of them makes the delivery"

So the assumption seems to be that Double-Park Anywhere lights are a fundamental feature of delivery services?

I wonder which store they are trying to deliver to Abbeyhill from that makes it so difficult? I'm not sure why it would be a problem unless they were trying to come through the city centre to get there. You really wouldn't know there's a huge arts festival going on along here, I suppose a few more tourists than usual on the bus into town or walking along from all the B&Bs at Moira Terrace.

And I don't think this has anything to do with double parking or magic parking lights, that's never stopped supermarket delivery vans up until now.

I wonder if the elderly resident is in the part of Abbeyhill close to Holyrood palace? There's social housing just beyond the railway opposite the palace. I know Abbeymount and the High Street are absolutely chock just now, knock on effect from diverted traffic from Brunswick Road and Calton Road.
