Unfortunately friends of mine have had a couple of bikes stolen from the shed in the garden of their new home in the vicinity of King's Buildings. Please be on the look out for a small, pale green woman's Pinnacle cyclocross bike and a large, dark blue man's Claud Butler 29er MTB. Hopefully one of them will sign up on here to follow up.

Just in case anyone comes across my squash friend's steed... "My bike has been stolen from outside my flat tonight, two stories up, and locked up with one of the best locks you can get. Still not enough apparently. Bikes on ground floor ignored. It is a Giant Escape 2 Hybrid bike, in Charcoal colours with a Large frame size (think it has L on it below the handlebars). Looks just like the picture below. If anyone around Edinburgh sees one like it on the smallest chance, let me know" Giant Escape 2 Hybrid"

Quite, but what was it locked to. If it's a tenement flat, the banisters are supported by cast iron railings that will usually shatter when given an appropriate knock, or can be rapidly cut through with a small saw.

    two stories up

and the higher up in the stairwell, the less likely a thief is to be disturbed
