Plans are now on the Edinburgh council planning portal for the new stand at Tynecastle Stadium.

Call me a cynic, but the ground floor plans are very poor quality on the portal compared to the other floors. The ground floor plans are the ones most people want to look at. Number of parking spaces, cycle racks, pavement widths etc

They will have to pay a tram contribution due to proximity to tramstop.

Apparently, Jim Clydesdale (the man with the plan) states he knows no one who used the tram to go to Tynecastle.

I'm sure he did a real and proper survey to come up with that pearler..........

Easy to argue out of it:-

    - It's a rebuild of an existing structure
    - Tram stop is 1.01 mile away from rebuilt stadium. Council limit is 1 mile (it's possibly a 1km limit)
    - Due to costs involved a tram contribution would potentially put the project over funding available
    - Initial plans were submitted before council brought in tram contribution requirement so not required
    - Tram contribution policy does not specifically mention football stadiums

Tram stop is less than a mile away on foot and, although Hearts will argue about it, the council's own policy on builds/rebuilds has already confirmed that a contribution of £100k is due.

Can't see that being an issue in the £12M overall cost.

Depends where you start measuring from and to ;-)

There was a place in Sighthill industrial estate was able to successfully argue that due to the just under 1 mile tortuous route to the tram stop nobody would actually bother.
