    Just a suggestion, but would I be correct in saying that with an Edge 1000 you're on Strava?

    Might be worth viewing fly-bys of your commute to see whose been using that route lately and message them on their posted rides to keep an eye out.

    no luck @stiltskin - hard to say with out going at walking pace if it fell into long grass whch comes up to ede of path.

    Don't know if you are Strava premium member but its new beacon service could be really useful to prevent this scenario. It will send an alert to up to 3 numbers if the device stops moving.

    Thanks anyway. As luck would have it, I was about to avail myself of the Beacon service. Too late, alas!
