How does he know 500 cyclists have signed his petition?

"Load them on to buses instead!"

The Seattle buses he keeps harping on about take 2 bikes.

The presence of option C shows that he's already managed to swing it. It's in the bag for him and the councillors opposed to the scheme.

Happy to be proven wrong on that, but not optimistic.

Cllr McVey, to be fair to him, just absolutely s*** on PG's position... I am temporarily smiling.

Magic access to everyone's feelings should swing it.

IMHO the taxi rank could be reasonably relocated to the undercroft of the new station building which is road connected.

Central et all I'm sure would appreciate the extra £1 from the extended journey times on every trip

Mr Taxi seems to have missed the small taxi rank planned for the front of the station, in addition to the one across the road.

He's arguing that people don't understand that a black cab in a rank is for hire.

Is he actually arguing that cyclists will go through Haymarket, when there is a safe cycle lane?

I was starting to think he had a point.

Haymarket taxi issues don't actually affect LW2R route(?)

Moving the rank is the issue here, not the lane itself.

Option C trailed by Lesley there, 'we have a draft motion'

Of course the problem is where the tram tracks were put...

LH just outside station a mess.

    JUST SAID 'preparing a motion'.

I'm inclined to agree with Dave now on this proposition:

"I'd prefer it if they decided just to start the scheme where NEPN crosses the A8 east of Roseburn and did nothing at Roseburn at all for the time being.

Better nothing than waste time money and set a bad precedent with the terrible option B.

They could then do a second phase looking at a cycleway from the A8 much further west (Gogar?) all the way in through Roseburn some other time."

It seems likely that the next administration will be worse on active travel than the present one. Compromise option or intentionally mothballed by delaying tactic?

  23. "Better nothing than waste time money and set a bad precedent with the terrible option B."

Inclined to agree, however there is another precedent that that sets, which is simply whinge loudly and visibly, even if you don't have any actual facts, and you can stop anything being done.

So they move onto the next stage, what's to stop someone from Corstorphine taking umbrage, and then taking the Roseburn lead.

    "People weren't designed to cycle"

    No really

Nothing at all I suppose. At least though folk would have a safer route from West Coates to Waterloo Place / Picardy Place. That's worth something, surely?

The alternative, if this drags on, is more delays, eventually a rubbish compromise regarding Roseburn, and little likelihood of it being improved upon for a generation...

People were designed to walk. Therefore no cycle track. Therefore no road?

Presumably he'll get laughed out of the meeting.
