New thread (to avoid confusion of which birthday it is).

I've done the above meetomatic to get some basic idea of what days of the week suit people, where potential dates to avoid are, etc.

    Or leave your preferences below.

I've not used meetomatic before - just doodle - is it just you that gets to see the choices made? I've submitted those dates for which I am currently free, but they are fast disappearing due to my other half's popularity.

@algo I wasn't aware of that limitation, I'll see if I can make the results go public

(on closer inspection this reveals the personal email, so I won't paste the link)

The results are publicly available at the above link, but it seems you can't simultaneously see the results and make your decision.

Should I just bin this, and do a doodle instead? I can shift over the existing votes if required.

It is currently suggesting (based on 4 response) that 30/09, 01/10 and 14/10 are best options.

    Proposition;

We meet at Greenroofer's Railway Snicket with secateurs and give it a quick trim before heading to either the Waiting Room or the Kilted Pig. Beer and buses better at Waiting Room.

That way civic duty plus alcohol = warm afterglow.

    Maybe doodle

    When I did it 30/09, 01/10, 7/10 and 08/10

It said someone else had already responded using the same name?????

I should copy onto this thread all the offers of a drink from the other thread...

But more importantly I'm going to copy across the call to arms I wrote.

    "
    Thanks for the words...

I should say I dropped out of the inner circle of POP to spend more time with my family and ended up taking on Roseburn.

Running a campaign is physically & mentally taxing, but has been made easier by the excellent support I have on here and from the many people in Roseburn who have contacted us - most of whom haven't done any campaigning before.

The cycle revolution will come but we need people to get involved and take on the roles at the front of the campaign(s) and just behind.

Please do step forward and offer what you can, where you can, whether is is local to you, citywide or national. Don't for a minute think that those active now know what they are doing - most of the time we are flying by the seats of our pants and mistakes do happen, but it better to try and fail than not try at at all...

    "

@IWRATS - I wholeheartedly support your proposition for civic duty pre-drinks in principle...

Think this is worth its own thread.

Indeed. I should say that we are looking for 'fresh blood' for POP - some of the old stalwarts are beginning to get war weary, and also new people will hopefully bring new ideas and new ways of taking POP forward. Clearly, the local authority elections are going to be almost as key as the Holyrood ones (maybe more so). We're still working on how best to do it, but will likely have an open session whereby people with ideas, energy, enthusiasm and time (or some combination thereof) can chip in.

If you want something done, do it yourself.

This is not the most sustainable approach...

Well someone just replied to the meetomatic using my handle! And it wasn't me.

I hereby propose that I try a doodle instead. I'll move over existing responses.

Based on responses so far, nearly everyone thinks a Friday is best (everyone has ticked at least one of the Fridays, and no Friday has less than 6/7 of the responses so far)

Mid October would suit me best I'm burning a lot of good will at home with recent pre hangover activities.

Drinks wise - I think I'm mostly around on those date, will fill in the response shortly.

I also had an inkling that today has bee n a busy day on the Forum so as we discuss birthday drinks I have run a query and have found that today has had the most ever posts at 391 (392 when I hit post) The previous top day was 30 April 2012 (just after PoP?)

More visitors today than for a very long time too.

Maybe it helps to be first with the news...

    I'm confused.
Is there a doodle poll? Is there a link to it?

Upstairs is generally a bit quieter, unless someone has booked a big party. Downstairs has the advantage of people being easier to spot on the way in.

"Shall I start calling him Boffof?"

Depends how carefully you say it when he's around...

Alas I cannot make it now.

Hope you all have a good time between sundown’s finish and midnight’s broken toll.
