Time to dig out the pastry trays and allow 4x your normal commute, I've just stuffed my face all the way up the Restalrig path with fresh blackberries. Yum yum.

    Get out there!

Just pruned back a load on the A924 and A90 paths this morning- they looked good there, though will pick somewhere less fumey.

Hedgerow vodka (with brambles, hawthorn, rosehips, elderberries), sourced from Bug Alley may just be an imminent project.

Tried the ones in Murrayfield Station goods yard.

Ripe, but disappointingly low on taste.

Any recipe ideas? They're too good for jam just now.

I put some in a bread and butter pudding which also contains lumps of marzipan (which was basically the reason for making it)

Not at all ripe on the canal at the weekend. Mystified by the sight of folk wrenching the sour khaki bullets from the bushes.

When they are ripe...jeelly and crème de mûres.

Still red on towpath but super abundant. I predict a riot of Jeely. Creme de mures I have already from valvona land

A crumble would work. I was given a bag of cooking apples at the weekend.

W st Lothian road worker was picking some this morning at niddry road Broxburn. But too much car exhaust fume for me at that spot. Bumper crop though, with some black ones

We have some apple trees in the garden. Edible but sour as. I might try stewing them down with a sufficient quantity of sugar to make them edible. Some sort of Nordic apple cake perhaps.
