    Is that not Moira Terrace?

It's a jointly named street like many of Edinburgh's old roads. I find it an infuriating system in unfamiliar areas.

    Story updated -

Portobello Road has been closed in both directions following an apparent hit and run. Witnesses said two teenage girls, believed to be Italian students, had been injured and that a blue Golf sped off after knocking them down.

Folk drive too fast on that stretch. No signalled crossings nearby, you have to use a traffic island or brave the drag racing traffic. Can be quite intimidating to cross at times.

Hope the girls recover fully from their injuries, and that the culprit is found, arrested and charged.

My parents stay in one of the side roads there.

Taking a right turn out of their street is a lottery half the time.

Traffic is too fast, many cars park too close to junctions impairing sightlines, too much parking right next to traffic islands etc - I'm not surprised at this.

Cllr. Cook will be along shortly to tell us why we don't need speed limits on residential roads.

A spokesman said: “A Volkswagen Golf was involved in a collision with two female pedestrians during the incident, which happened around 5.40pm in Inchview Terrace.

“A 16-year-old sustained and arm injury, while a 17-year-old suffered an injury to her leg. Both were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where they continue to be treated.

“The vehicle was recovered a short time later and inquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and any other occupants.
