No photo, sorry, but I was passing East along Stevenson Road today about here https://goo.gl/maps/RU1PpS8c1B22">Map. The bus lane is closed for roadworks, and there is a big sign up saying basically "cyclists dismount and walk along the pavement".

Excuse me? What about cyclists cycling along the road with the rest of the road users? Yes it's a single lane, but hardly a motorway or other unnavigable road.

  2. I'm pretty sure the sign also said the cycle lane was closed. Which makes me think the navvies mistook the kerbside parking for a cycle lane!

Yes, that too! There is a wide pink lane at that point though, usually known as a bus lane... Maybe bus drivers should be getting off and pushing too?

  4. There is an unpainted kerbside "lane" which is a large parking bay

I think that has been mistaken as a cycle lane. Easy mistake to make as most of Edinburgh's 'cycle lanes' have cars parked in them

There seems to be a stock of Cyclists Dismount roadworks signs kicking about now which are used with various levels of appropriateness all over Edinburgh. Presumably there is council guidance to "think about bikes" and this is how some of them do it.

Tweet a picture to the council and Lesley and ask what's going on.

I'm not in the area again now for several days - if anyone else has the time to do so, that would be great.
