The Cycling UK Scotland AGM and Gathering is on 5 November - it's not just for members so please do come along if you are interested in hearing about what we've been up to over the last year. If that doesn't interest you, the wonderful Kate Rawles is going us to talk cycle touring with a purpose and tell us about her upcoming adventure to South America..

    Free tickets are available here:

Hello folks, I am being a bit cheeky and bumping this in case anyone would like to attend the event next Saturday.

    Day includes:
    - a Spokes cycling infrastructure safari
    - Cycling UK Scotland AGM (this should take no more than 30 mins)
    - lunch (nom)
    - pecha kucha session from tourers, campaigners and member groups
    - update on new branding, change of name etc
    - keynote talk from Kate Rawles, who cycled the spine of North America and wrote up her adventures in her book "The Carbon Cycle".

Co-incidentally, Kate launches her second edition of The Carbon Cycle with Word Power Books this Sunday with the Radical Book Fair at OOTB Drill Hall. The book is an excellent read (touring and science, yay) and she is a great presenter, so if you have two shots to see her :)

If it's open to all then presumably one will have to show a membership card in order to be able to vote on any motions?

Yes the AGM is only voteable by members. I suspect we will ask on the day for non-members to refrain from voting, have a list of members and ask them to sit separately from non-members for voting purposes. I can confirm with the committee.

Hello folks, for those interested, the 2017 Cycling UK Scotland AGM is in Glasgow on 18 November.

This year, Peter Walker (of Guardian Bike Blog fame) will be in attendance for a keynote talk. He'll have books to sign and be happy to do a Q & A. His book "Bike Nation: How Cycling Can Save The World" is pretty much required reading for campaigners and decision makers. I asked for Cllr Nick Cook to get a copy earlier this year as part of my Pedal on Parliament donation. I can only hope he's read it!

There will also be two rides (an infrastructure safari and leisure ride), and some presentations from groups across Scotland talking about their cycling activities.

    Book a free spot: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cycling-uk-scotland-2017-gathering-and-agm-tickets-37943469940
